Without seeing the cam specs nobody can say for sure, but a typical mild cam will work fine with the stock converter.

Here is a good link.  I have been thinking about doing this to my little 318.  Everybody laughs, but who cares

I would wish to know your opinion about MP 993 BB cam and torque converter relationship here:

I have a MP cam in my 360.  I like it but I wouldn't buy another one.  Not that they are bad, it's because other manufacturers have come out with better choices.  MP hasn't changed their cams in ages.

I've been doing a lot of reading lately on the newer cams. I'm starting to accumulate parts for a new 360.  I'm not necessarily looking for more power although I'm sure I'll get it.
I'm just getting tired of dumping oil into the engine I've got.  :icon_smile_angry:

For a street car I like the Comp Cams extreme energy series.  Other manufacturers offer cams with more lift with the same duration that may put out a little more power, but they would worry me.  Without changing the rocker ratio, the only way to do that is with steeper ramps on the cam lobes.  There's a mechanical limit to how steep those ramps can be.  Some manufacturers go a little closer to that limit.  If the cam and lifters are perfect, the rest of the valvetrain is perfect, the breakin goes perfect and you use oil with the perfect additive package they can get away with it.  In the real world it tough to get that many perfect things all the time.  Anyway that's my  :Twocents: on camshafts.

If I were you I'd think I'd probably go with this cam in the engine you describe.
