Nacho, so when you have the hd plugged in, the pc won't boot?  If not, then it may be gone unless you want to spend a small fortune to a company to recover it.  One way may be to see about a ide to usb connector.  It may recognize the drive but hard to say.

I have two hard disks, the old IDE one 20Gb, using for Windows, and the Sata 80 giga to personal files.

Yeah, I have seen those Sata-Ide-USB adaptors, down here prices are around $20-40... you mean use like an external device like a pendrive ?

terrible one

What about putting it into a different computer as a secondary drive, so that you could simply boot up the computer from it's normal hard drive, etc. but would have your old one to view/save the files from?

Yup, just like that.  Works great if you don't have access to another computer like TO suggests.  Depending on which drive, if it's the old 20gb, then it may work.  However, it may not work if your pc won't boot with it installed normally.  That may be a problem with the hd controller on the drive itself.  You may need to run some sort of drive repair on it like Spinrite if you can find someone who has it (most repair shops may).

got it work normally... just press some keys and played wit Bios, making NOTHING, AND GOT IT WORKING... BUT TAKES LOT OF TIME TO MAKE IT LOAD EVERYTHING, about 2 or 3 minutes... too much with AMD 64 dual core 3600 and 1 gb Ram. should load averything in 30 seconds as much.

Does look I can have RAID driver damaged ???.

The message when was loading befor got it woeking said something like:
Hardware intializating failure, check device!!!
Bios not to be installed, press G to continue.

was not exactly that but kinda... dunno remmeber the exactly words
