Steering Column Shaft length??

I am in the process of rebuilding my steering column and having some problems with it.  The main questing here is how long should it be from where the steering wheel nut is to the bottom of the coupler end.  I have two of them and from the bottom bearing (where the two bolts hold the outside casing) to the end where the coupler goes, they are both different???   The one that was on the car was 6 inches and the once that I have from a different Charger is 7 inches...  Not sure if this rod is adjustable or not but they are two different sizes.  Can anyone help?  I have included some pictures to help clarify what I am talking about.

Is one from a power steering car and one from a manual?

They are both Power Steering.
