I'm looking at painting my 74 charger sublime green(yes I know it wasn't an option, but I like it).  I thought about having Maaco paint it since I'm on a budget, but if I were to paint it my self what paint would you reccomend for someone on a tight budget?

if you're trying to save some $$ then single stage is your best bet, but I would recommend going with base/clear system. You should be happy with Omni, PPG's lower class paint.

I just want a single stage paint job.  The car is going to be a driver, mainly as a backup vehicle for if my truck keeps having issues and breaks down on me before work one nite, so expensive paint isn't needed.  I want to spend the money I save by going with a lower buck paint job in making the car reliable and yet powerful.  Thanks for the input.

Do not, repeat, do NOT, repeat again, do not use PPG's Omni paint in Sublime green. I have personal experience with this stuff. There is ZERO coverage using this paint. You'd have better luck just pissing into the spray gun & using that. It's junk.
The stuff still didn't cover after 5 coats (over LIGHT GRAY primer), and it doesn't look even close to the correct Sublime. It is more olive in color. (Yes, it was the right mix).

Stay with a better brand (higher line) of PPG, or try DuPont's ChromaOne.

:iagree: sikkens is one of the best paint out there.  You will probably think its too expensive.  It is worth it.  If you want to experiment with the cheap stuff here you go

One big thing that you will learn when it come to paint. You get what you pay for. The more expencive paints (as a rule) covers better and less problems then the less expencive paints. If you have to use more of the cheaper paint to get the same coverage that you get from the more expencive paint. Then is it really cheaper to use the less expensive paint?

:iagree:  when I am using a cheap paint I will always apply a fog coat to get better coverage, but you still will use double the amount of paint than if you sprung for the good stuff and yellow and sublime is a bitch
