you won a trophy? Saturday afternoon went to a local show at a huge ice cream shop. This is what I learned from listening and watching at other shows. Got there early and parked where the most people gathered to order there food. Kept the hood shut unless they wanted to look, wheels nice and shiny, windows up and my information board in front of the car. Everyone loved my car. They commented on the originality and history of the car. There was about 30 or 40 cars and trucks that showed up. After it was all said and done I came in second and got my first trophy. I could not believe it. It was a peoples choice contest. The one that beat me was a pink 55 Oldsmobile owned by a young lady. There were street rods, cherry old pick ups and other cars that looked way better than mine. It was funny though, the trophy has a camaro on top. Oh well, it's still a trophy. Did talk to a guy who was the original buyer/owner of a 67 GTX, 383, 4 speed. Shown very well.
Anyway, just wanted to toot my horn.

did you say a 67 GTX with a 383 4 speed?

THE COLONEL

I remember mine, but I didn't have The Colonel.  I had a 1993 Plymouth Duster.  It was the "Southern Mopar Classic" (at the time) at Bristol Motor Speedway.  I took second place in my class.

We took my dad's friends 71 Camaro Z28 RS to a Camaro show back in 2000 in Vancouver. We got 1st place in the 70-81 class. I got to keep the trophy :icon_smile_big:

Your right, it was a 440 but with option of the Hemi. He said it was only a couple hundred dollars more for that and he is still kicking himself.

I did learn a couple things. Keep the hood shut so they can see the whole car, switched out my magnums for the chrome and had a little history on the car.

I have done countless car shows with many cars and never won a trophy.
Last year my friend shows up with a well worn 87 Trans am that he didn't even clean the bugs off of and wins his class at the same show I was in. Got a Hugearse trophy too. :icon_smile_angry:

Back in '95 at a judged show my original owner bought '72 Charger, first in class.  I went straight to the ladies house where I bought it and showed her the trophy and she seen all the cleaning I did on the car and started crying.  Neat moment.

First trophy or plaque that I won with an older Mopar (older than 74) was with my sunroof charger that I sold a few years back. That car was nothing to look at, but somehow it won a people's choice award at a local show.
