Questions???
Did you do it yourself at home?
If so, did you use a HVLP gun?
How did you manage overspray?
Number of coats?
Time between coats?
Single stage or base / clear?
Manufacturer of paint and gun?

Malicious, vindictive, spiteful, cynical, pessimistic, sarcastic, & antagonistic. And those are my good traits!

Great work, I just love the interior on the first gens.  It was definetly ahead of its time.

Did it myself in my buddy's shop. HVLP gun, (Cheap one from harbor freight but sprays SWEET! Over spray was contained by the plastic sheeting you see everywhere INCLUDING under the car. Just laid it under the car and pushed the car on top of it, then COVERED the car from the doors back.
Single stage acrylic enamel , I wanted EASY touch up once the engine is in the car, car will be done in base/Clear. The paint is DuPont NASON single stage. about 3 coats, more on the top of the rad support because of a couple fish eyes, about 20 minutes between coats give or take, with mixing another batch taking a few minutes at one point.

Hope this helps, if you have any other questions, I'll try but that is the first automotive painting I have done in about 12 years. ANd it is the first time  have sprayed automotive metallic on ANYTHING besides a model car!

MAN that is one of the coolest things about these cars, the interior layout, mine is a 66 so it has the full length console! To me it has probably the coolest interior of any b-body built. And the electroluminescent guages are VERY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the color :drool5:

There is a funny story that goes with buying the paint for that car, I went to get the color, and found out that the original color (Code GG1) is NOT available anymore.

Had to go into the chips and search for the closest match I could spot, I was told I could ORDER the paint, but the company would just do a "closest match" and it was a LOT more expensive. So after spending about an hour with the book in the sun, the color I found was pretty much DEAD ON. And that was a real blessing because this I can get in ANY type I want including base/clear, because of the cars it is coded for.

I REALLY hate to tell you guys this, but it really is just about the EXACT right color, even matching it with original paint SIDE BY SIDE!

The color is........

69 Camaro/Corvette Fathom green metallic!

OK go ahead and flame me but I had to get close and this stuff is CLOSE !!!!!!!!!!   :D :D :D :D

It really is hard to tell the difference with the original! This just has a TINY bit more metallic and just a HINT less blue!

Chevy or not I like it, good looking green metallic. I was wondering how much paint total you had to mix up as I will be using single stage enamel too, Dupont Centari in Mist Turqoise metallic, but mines a 70 Pontiac color. maybe I should spend less time on this computer and more time working on the car and it might actually get somewhere!

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

16 ounces of paint, then the accompanying reducer and catalyst.

Wasn't too bad.

That single stage stuff sprays pretty well.
