Every Labour Day weekend my family gets together and makes tomato sauce for the year.  We purchase 5 - 6 bushels and spend the whole weekend making massive pots of basic tomato sauce to jar for the year.  We usually end up with 200 - 250 medium sized mason jars of sauce.  This divided up throughout the family (4 households) lasts for the whole year.  As mentioned, it cost us more this year to do our preserves, but it is worth it!

I say we tax those people who have an over abundance of tomatos an extra 20 tomatos a week and send them to the working poor in this country. Those Italians with all the extra tomato sauce should be made to pay their fair share of tomato taxes....... IT'S NOT FAIR THEY SHOULD GET ALL THE TOMATOS!!!!!!
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms should be a convenience store NOT a government agency!

You watch when OTEC (Ole Tommaters Everywhere Corp) turns in thier annual financial report! HUGE profits! HUGE!

You know they just don't grow them in the fields like they did years ago! 'To many eco-nuts out there they cry! When can't plant like we used to!'

They create their own tomato shortage to drive up prices and we pay everytime we make a burger! It's insane! :eyes:


I'm switching to mustard! Sure, it's sucks as a pizza sauce, but I'm doing my part! Are you????

This really sucks for me because, being fed up with high gas prices, I had found a way to convert tomatoes to fuel. I guess that's out the window now! ;D
