Got a few questions before I start stripping the 68. Whats the thoughts on harbor freight 6" DA sanders? are they good to start with? Ive had good and bad luck with HF. Also, Will my 6hp 20 gal 135 psi  Porter Cable compressor (8.3 scfm @ 40 psi, 5.8 scfm @ 90 psi) do the trick for a gravity feed HVLP gun. Also wheres the best place to pick one up? Any ideas?

When it comes to air tools I would look for something of a little better quality than HF. If you're worried about buying something you'll never use after your project is finished I would buy a top-of-the-line Ingersol Rand or something and then sell it on craigslist when you're done. It's better to have something that's not going to fall apart on you halfway through your project.

The compressor sounds good enough. As far as the guns, I think it's more 'what' than it is 'where' you buy. You can get guns at paint stores, Sears, Ebay, etc.: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,19640.0.html

Ok here is the deal.  I bought a piece of crap DA from harbor freight and it broke in 2 days.  I bought a hammer and dolly set.  It broke in a week.  If you want a really good DA that you plan on using a long time buy a hutchins.

Ok, I picked up a new Craftsman 6" DA and 1.5 HVLP paint gun last weekend. Im going to try and shoot one fender and front valance with epoxy primer next Saturday just to get a feel for it. One concern though. Will the 1.5 tip be good for both primer and paint? The guy at the paint store said 1.3/1.4 for paint and 1.7 for primer was good (I had already bought the tools) Seems like right in the middle of both. What do you all think? Also clean up...just regular thinner ok?

use a 1.8 for primer, 1.4 for base and I use a 1.5 for clear.  Also use a water filter and pressure regulator at the base of the gun.  I set my gun for 25 psi at the cap, but yours could be different.  Check your guns cfm

The HF DA's are not bad for the money (39.95). We've used them along with the more expensive ones (astro pneumatic, Hutchins) and they do not last as long. But with the one year warranty, they are not a bad deal. For a few dollars more you can extend the warranty to 2 years. I have found that they fail within a day or two or right out of the box or they will last a year or more. That's with 5 days a week use. The one's that fail right away are under warranty and as long as you have the receipt they exchange them with no problems.

I like to put my Primer Surfacer on heavy so I special ordered a 2.0 tip on my Primer Gun. Also, use a cheap primer gun at less then $100.  My other guns are Sata Jets, 90 & NR2000 with 1.3 & 1.2 tips. LEON.

So if I have to use some filler later I can go over the epoxy primer right? Also, what should be the final finish on the undersides of the fenders (not the undercoat sealer) but same color as the body? Before I use the epoxy primer Id like to use a little bit of Por 15 or similar...I had heard there was now something just as good and more readily available?
