OK, here is the one I have.  The plates look slightly different and of course, the bar is different.

Still a little uncertain about the sway bar. When I bought the car it had a 8.75 rear in it. I had to pull it and give it back
to the guy I bought it from. I bought the shell no drivetrain. I kept the leafsprings and the isolators and all the mounts.
The sway bar did not hit the carrier then, but it does now. Thats what is driving me crazy. Is there any difference in the
shape of the 8.75 carriers from year to year? I have a 489 case.

Here's a thought that just occured to me... is it possible you accidentally installed the mounting plates at the leaf springs upside down/flipped?  If you could post a pic, it might help a lot.

I think that is not posible, and if so, then sway bar would sit LOWER

OK, here is the one I have.  The plates look slightly different and of course, the bar is different. 

Plates are one from 73/74 and the other one probably from 75 and laters ( cordoba, magnum, fury, monaco, charger ) wiith the elongated U bolts holes.

Just an update. Problem solved. I just put longer bushings on the bottom of the mounting plate.
No longer a problem.
