1987 Ram charger I found cheap...

I found a 1987 Ram Charger from the highway a few days ago for 950 bucks. I drove by it tonight just for the hell of it. The body looks pretty nice. No huge caved in dents as far as I can see. It was dark so I would need to go back in the day. Of course it says on the side runs good, so I wonder if that means no expense spared on sawdust!? If I get stupid and decide to get serious with a vehicle like this, is there anything specific I should look at? I know engine and tranny condition are a big thing. Are parts hard to come by? Where can I get more information on them?  Its stock height as far as I can tell.

yeah they usually go cheap. of course 950 for a clean running one is still a good deal. parts are easy to come by as well

i big blocked one in the past.  basically everything you need for a truck of the same year can be put on the RC.  I did a lot with mine before I sold it, if you have any questions, PM me.

Basically all 1981-1990 are the same, nearly everything is swappable.  91-93 are getting more $$ as are the 74 1/2-80 pop top ones.  But everything in between is relatively cheap, and easy to work on.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll see how things go here in the next few weeks and if I want to get it. I do need a truck type vehicle and 950 is a good price if its all running.

well really I'm undecided between 70s and 80s Rams, I like both... earliers are agresive on exterior and laters are comfortable... what definitelly I like is get it with desert camouflage, raised up, big tires and big CB antena

I thought the Ram Charger for those years were the little elcamino type truck on the Omni Charger platform?  I always liked those but the weather wasn't verry good to them.

i have a 87 ramcharger that i posted for sale on here for $2,000  never got any replys wich i thought was odd  as it never had any dammage/body work  is dent/rust free (althou its getting some surface rust from clear coat wore off blue/silver) 360 4x4
its been setting for a year or so and needs a lot of tlc     guiess il give it to one of my sons when thay get lil oder(14 now) and the sad thing is thay will prob use it as a mud truck

RamChargers were always bigger trucks.  And they did have some manual trannies in the 80's.  I almost bought a 83 that was stick and was 4wd.

I just sold a 1990 Ramcharger with a snowblade on it for $1,500 and it was pretty rusty so that is a pretty good deal if it is nice. Check the frame good on it, seems like they tend to get a little soft in areas, parts are easy to find, I do not recommend pulling 73 Chargers with the 318 version it tends to work a bit hard right charger1973??

I have used my 318/auto ramcharger to tow my 72 charger.  would definitely recommend upgrading rear springs first as well as brakes.  other than that, it pulled great.

what would be a fair price for a non rusted no dents/door dings    faded paint 4x4 360 needing some tlc and a couple odd/ends parts here and there??? as im not really a truck guy but i dont want to see it go to waste...possible trade?? ralph  toplescuda   challengerbabe@aol.com
