very cool looking engine   :2thumbs:,  that is an extreme looking intake,
can I ask you a question about the painting?  that' what I wanted mine to look like, heads and intake unpainted, but machine shop won't do any painting of engine, and I want to have them put on the heads there,    can't figure out a plan for this,   pick up short block, paint, bring back, have heads and manifold installed?  how did they do yours?  thanks, Nate

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

The machine shop used cardboard to control over spray on the short block.  You could degrease the engine then tape/paper the heads and intake.  Another option is to use POR15 engine paint, it is formulated for brush application.

The machine shop had my engine for five months; delays in parts delivery, forgot to order a timing chain, removing .015 off the pistons, plate bore and honing, deck block, clearance check on the rotating assembly, machining keyway on ATI harmonic, .093 copper head gaskets required orings on the block, two sets of MR Gasket intake gaskets .060 each to align the intake to heads, three angle valve job on the heads, and balance.  The block, mains and timging chain cover are the only original parts on the engine.  They spray the completed engine with a gray engine primer on all of their engines ready for your own paint.

I am using a solid purple cam with a .525 lift and comp pro magnum roller rockers.  The Offenhauser tunnel ram will be topped with two edelbrock 500s and a Mr. Gasket Street Scoop.  I am planning on using a MSD 6al ignition, coil and distributor.  The transmission is coming out next for a rebuild at a local shop, the owner worked at another shop for over twenty years as the automatic trans expert and finally decided to open his own shop.

I looked at a roller cam and could not justify the cost.  It would have been another $500 to $600 and right now I am at $8500.
