Hey gang....

Well, I went and picked up my exterior door handles to the '68.. I was playing with the rechroming of the originals versus using the "NOS" ones you get nowadays... One look at the original rechromed handles sold me.. Luckily, my originals didn't have pitting, so I had a good base. The chrome came out gorgeous.. The picture doesn't do it justice for all you see is reflection. Shot, you can barely see the seam between the body paint and the handle for the chromes that good.. The rechroming only cost $102, far cheaper than getting "NOS" ones and they are original...

did you just leave the black button or did you repaint it in anyway?

handle looks real nice.  i may have to get mine re-chromed instead of getting the repro one (but mine is pitted, wonder if it can be fixed?).  where did you send yours to be done?

I'll put all the original hardware back in.. The original handles had the black buttons... I had them done here locally. Luckily, there's a place here in Houston that plates pewter/potmetal and will repair any pitting to a certain degree.. The specialize in the older hood ornaments for the 40's and 50's........... Their website is: http://www.superiorchrome.com/

Damn, that turned out really nice.  Hell of a lot better than the place I took my tail light bezels to that cracked them in like 6 places.

I'm taking my taillamp housings over there soon along with my vent window frame.. Superior does great work on potmetal.. I'll buy the new reproductions taillamp bezels though.. I have the 4-piece trim group that they address as well.. The rear of the car will look awesome with all new chrome trim...

I had my tail lights done 10yrs ago, looks very good, but the edges of the round bezels
really got rounded over during the process. So this time I am doing the same thing, just
chroming the big housings, infact I just took in a set yesterday, hope they turn out
as good as the first set.
