Im just finished a model of a 71 Charger RT. I havent put the RT decals on yet because Im abit nervous about screwing them up. I suck at putting decals on basically. So Im just wondering, I know they made stripe delete 69s but did they make decal-less 71 RTs? :shruggy:

Suck it up and put 'em on.  You'll never get better by giving up.

Charger1973

Wouldnt look like an RT with no decals.   :Twocents:

the trick to putting on large decals is to wet the area they are to be affixed to with the warm slimey water the decal came off of, so you need to get a very shallow dish like a small bread dish and fill it with hot water, after a minute or so as the water cools submerge the decal quickly in the now warm water,.. the decal will losen in about 15 - 30 seconds. take the entire decal still on the paper and use the decals water to mosten the area you want to place the stripe or whatever...
then, slide the decal off the paper and onto the now wet area and position it accuratly within 10 seconds...
blot the air bubbles and excess water with the decals paper and at this point the excess water can be removed with a tissue which will absorb the water quickly.
in an emergency like if the decal tears or moves. a quick application of the warm water may allow you to reposition the decal,.. the warm water lengthens the time the decal is positionable and the water from the decals solution lubricates it initally and then, when dry helps it to bond as it's actually a water soluble glue...
hope that helps...  :eek2:

I can tell you that I know of some 71 Superbee's that were "stripe delete" cars, so I think there are probably some R/T's out there that are also stripe delete.

Can't remember the option code off teh top of my head.

Stripe Delete code is V68... :2thumbs:

If I remember correctly, there is a solution you can buy that makes decal application easier (and with better results).  Might be worth the time to dig around...

Cody,

You need to get Micro Sol setting solution.

http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Sol-Setting-Solution-1oz/dp/B0006O9K5Q

What you do is place the decal where you want it.  Apply the Micro Sol and let it dry completely.  At first the decal will wrinkle (don't panic).  Let the solution dry and the decal WILL conform to any ridiculous shape.  (google it - you'll find all kinds of tutorials on how to properly use it.)

In one of the other model threads I posted pics of a LeMans racecar - you can see all the carbon fiber suspension.  That is ALL decals (using this solution).

I don't know but it would take a BUNCH of bottles!!!!!!!!! They only come in 1 ounce bottles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

71_Charger_R/T

Yes, I can attest to the fact they produced Stripe Delete '71 R/T's. Mine is a stripe delete car and is coded "V68" This was only in reference to the longitudinal  side stripes, The Power Bulge hood  and door louvers still had decals.
