Ever deal with an asshole buyer?

I recently sold a very expensive battery powered Tank on another forum. I had just purchased the item myself a week before and used it for about ten minutes and the guy who bought it from me knew this. I had it listed at the same price I paid for it or best offer but the buyer offered to pay what I was asking. I had ordered a second battery for the Tank as the first didn't last as long as I liked and since I only had to pay 1/3 of what the battery was worth because he happened to have one left over. I offered to throw the other battery in for free as a sign of good will and the buyer said ok. Now the battery was still in transit from where I had ordered it and the buyer said to just send the tank on ahead and then send the battery once I got it which was against my better judgement.

The battery arrived about 5 days later and I sent it off the very next day by regular post since he never offered to pay shipping for the battery. It should have only taken 3 days at the max but now it's a month later and it never arrived to the buyer or so he says. I've called the post office on my end 4 different times and got 4 different people who told me the parcel was shipped from the post office the very next morning. They won't give me what the parcel is worth because they are saying they don't know the parcel is missing and they don't know what the battery was worth nor what type it was even though I tried to tell them.

Now the seller is telling me I'm not doing enough and he's giving me a week to buy a new battery and have it sent to me and then to him so I would have to pay shipping twice. I offered to just give him the money for what I had paid for the battery as a sign of good faith but he's refusing and saying he wants a battery instead within the week. The two problems are that the odds of finding a battery for the price I originally paid is next to nill, and the fact that it took close to two weeks for the battery to arrive to me originally, and then the cost of double shipping it.

Granted I do NOT have the money to be buying a new battery and having it shipped at the moment. I told him that I should be getting my tax refund within the next couple weeks but he demands he gets this battery in a week or else.

What the hell should be done? I hate this shit because we've both been members of the same forum for years and his feedback for seller is larger than mine. The kid is rich and thinks I ripped him off from a battery that I cannot even use.

Call the post office in the town he lives in to verify that the package made it, you should have been given a package number that they can check. If not, tell him to stick the tank where the sun dont shine. He didnt pay for the fkn battery, it was free. So whats he worried about, he has the tank and original battery.  :Twocents:

His post office says that the parcel never arrived to them either. When shipping with regular post Canada Post doesn't give you a tracking number. Since it costs extra I didn't get one since he never offered to even pay shipping for the battery.

Hey you tried to fix the situation even though its not your problem and he wasnt happy with that.  Dont worry about it.  Hopefully you keep your receipts at least?  But anyway, if it never arrived at his post office then its obviously not your fault.  He should have bought insurance.   :Twocents:

Or else what? Is he going to take away your birthday? Just call his bluff. If he leaves you bad feedback just tell them what you told us, say he never paid for it anyway and that your PO says it was delivered. Was this an Ebay transaction? If not I wouldn't worry too much about it. In fact I probably wouldn't even worry if it is. You tried to send someone a free part and they didn't get it? Too bad so sad.

I got into it once with an overseas seller on Ebay because he said in the auction to allow for 28 days delivery. I waited for 29 days and then sent him an email about it and got no response. So on day 33 I left him bad feedback and then he left me bad feedback and said I never tried to contact him. i sent him a copy of the link to the Ebay email I sent him to prove it and then after some back and forth bickering we eventually did a mutual feedback withdrawal.

Drache

It wasn't an ebay transaction. It was on a forum I go to that allows people to leave feedback. I've got flawless feedback on 4 different forums as well as ebay and I take pride in that. I even called up a local friend to buy a battery off of him to ship out as a sign of good faith but I don't take kindly to threats. He was at first only talking about leaving me bad feedback but now he's talking about talking to Canada Post about mail fraud. I called his bluff on that and even told him that I had I could get a battery but damned if I wasn't going to send it since his last message was calling me names. I usually try not to deal with 16 year olds because most I've dealt with act pretty bad if the tiniest thing don't work out.

I would just forget about it and delete his e-mails, do not even open them, ignore it and it will go away.. I really doubt that the postal service will come after you. :Twocents:

Always, use delivery confirmation for everything

Drache

I was told by the people at the post office I have to pay for it as well as a tracking number. Both come standard on Xpresspost but since regular post would take the same amount of time as Xpresspost and since I had to pay for the shipping on this free item, I chose the cheaper route.

One lesson to learn, is that when you sell a product there is always a chance you can sell to a scammer who wants something for nothing.  Paying an extra 35 cents for delivery conformation is always better than shipping another product or getting a bad feedback

Hmmmm well we keep the reciept and on the reciept is a tracking # enter it and you can see where the package is, we've used it a couple of time shipping things from Alaska. It doesn't cost anything, give it a try (USPS)

I have to agree with BMOTOXSTAR. Just ignore the little retard and let the chips fall where they may. Having 100% feedback on everything but this twerp's transaction will say more about him than you, especially if you post an explanation.

moparguy01

I'd tell him to take a long walk off a short pier. He never paid for the insurance for shipping, and if he tries the mail fraud thing, tell them what you told us and show them the receipt. its not mail fraud if you sent it.

tell him to pound sand and when he leaves you negative feedback respond with what happened and how the "buyer was unreasonable"

then stop contact with him, still save his emails for awhile, just in case.

dkn1997

go have sex with his wife/girlfriend. that will show him who's boss.

scan your receipt and post it on the forum if need be..
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

if he's 16 he's just testing out his E-genetalia. Dont worry about it. just forget him.

He admits that I sent it but since it never arrived I must replace it, and sadly everyone one the forums is agreeing with him....

sounds like a forum I wouldnt stay on. How exactly is it YOUR problem that he didn't want the insurance for shipping? How exactly is it YOUR problem that YOU shipped it out and the postal service lost it. As far as I'm concerned its not your problem at all, you did everything you can. and I would also on that forum DEMAND that he pays the shipping costs you had to eat.

Doing business should NEVER cost you money.

Forza

Well tough shit for him because everyone on this forum is backing you. It was a free battery that he didnt pay shipping on, if anyone should be pissed it's you. Tell him to go pound sand and then sleep with his mother and/or sister. He still has 1 battery, if he wants another one he can pay for it.
