After what seems like an eternity the 68 finally has some color on it. I had a difficult time choosing, but in the end triple black won out.  :icon_smile_big:

The car started out as a rust free desert car but there were some old dents that had to be massaged out and a lot of fill was removed....my body guy said that the car should be about 20lbs lighter.

The car got a lot of attention while at his shop with numerous offers to buy....one guy asked 5 times !  :o

All total he had 115 hrs into this paint & bodywork and did a fantastic job....the car looks killer.  :2thumbs:

Now the fun begins....putting it back together. I sure hope i can remember where everything goes.....

Eldon, as soon as i saw yours it pretty much sealed the deal for me. I had originally wanted a triple black car but was wavering because there so many other cool choices....it's freaking stressful trying to pick a color combo !  :eek2:

It's too bad you're so far away in NB now....man would it be cool to line your 69 and my 68 up together for a pic or two !  :2thumbs:

If I'm readin that smudged sheet right :icon_smile_cool: it says your peak hp at the flywheel was 534 at between 5300-5900 rpm, right? What do you think that will translate to at the rear wheels?

472 R/T SE

25% reduction with an automatic bull IIRC.  Someone will correct me.

Ron, your HP numbers just don't seem to want to drop.  Impressive.  :o

bull

So roughly 400 hp @ the rear wheels then? That'll be fun. :naughty:

Mike, that's the general rule of thumb with an auto trans....20-25%. The engine dynos will often vary in terms of power from one machine to the next so it's sometimes difficult to predict what the motor will do in the car....unless there is a history of HP to elapsed times with that particular dyno. Fortunately, that is the case with this unit....using the Moroso speed calculator and plugging in the weight and HP for the car the slide will give you an ET and mph.  :scratchchin:

This dyno has a long historical relationship of power numbers and how that translates to elapsed times. The Moroso calculator is pretty accurate when using this dyno's numbers and predicting ET based on body weight. That might not work well when using other engine dynos...but it works well with this one.

So, based on the engine power #'s on the sheet and using 4000 lbs the sliderule says 11.00 at 120 mph. I'm thinking that this might be a little on the optomistic side because the car is being built as a dual purpose street/strip machine with less than optimal gearing (4.10's) and less than optimal stall speed (4200) so it won't be bang on. My gut feeling is that it will run in the mid 11's (11.50-11.30) at 117-118 mph based on what i've seen before. Who knows....maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised when the time comes to play a little.  :icon_smile_big:

Ron

Brightyellow69rtse

Ron, ive never been to either but i looked into it and im dead center between the two. epping is 100 miles form me lebanon valley is like 105. charger still needs seat belts and even if i did that mt et would prolly put me in a unbrakeable state of depression :'(  i think warmed over hemi ram could give her a hell of a run if i can catch traction.  i havent driven the car in about an month and a half, had to swap the starter out and i kept finding this and that wrong and it snowballed so i just locked the garage and left it there. ive done some of the work and i could get it running again in a day or so if i get left alone and am motovated. some of the problem stuff i have to put blinders on for now though.

on the plus side i think i know why my clutch wont hold during a burnout anymore. motors leaking oil like a pig and guess what no flywheel cover so guess where the oil went?  lets just say theres slippery where there isnt supposed to be slippery. i think i fixed the leak but the clutch is gonna stay the way it is for now. the 400s runnin good but shes tired, maybe ill go rob a bank so i can build my 440 lol............Mike

Mike, when i make it down to one of those tracks i'll give ya a heads up.  ;)

Sorry to hear about the problems. At least you know why the clutch is slipping.....might be time for a new one anyway. Wouldn't take much to build a 440 shortblock and you could use most of the stuff from the 400 ( heads, cam, lifters, rocker shafts/arms, headers, oilpan/pickup, windage tray etc.....)  :scratchchin:

Wow love the black, looks great!!!

Brightyellow69rtse

sounds good Ron lemme know.

i worked on her today, what happened is i bought a mini starter off eaby and the only way it would fit if if i crushed a header tube in half basicly and thats after some grinding to the starter. after a little bit of messing with it today i said screw it and i bought a stock replacement. yes its twice the size and double the weight but i got it in in about 20 mins lol. stupid ass mini starter caused me too much grief. starter works great the cars never started so fast in the 7 years ive had it. dunno if the oil leak is fixxed or not but at this point the way i see it oil i cheap lol. so all i gotta do is put the steering column back reinstall the seat and finish up my console restore/ custom kinda thing and ill be set :) ..........Mike
