Does anyone reproduce the square metal hold-down that is placed over the fuel filler neck seal in the trunk of the 2nd Gen Chargers?

Thanks..

Hey Troy,

  check here...     http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-1970-Charger-Fuel-Filler-neck-seal-Mopar-1969_W0QQitemZ120109085358QQcmdZViewItem

Yes,, but I think there's a metal "ring" that covers the perimeter of the seal that secures it down.....

Thanks for the reply....

the rubber is bonded to the seal and therefor all one part if its a good repop anyway.

All the repros I've seen have the metal ring molded into the rubber, similar to a shifter boot.

Troy,

You might want to double-check your seal.  The '68 seal is a different size than the '69-70 piece.  Last I heard the '68s were not being reproduced, but maybe someone knows a place that has them??

Thanks Geno.. I'll look at it now that you have brought it to my attention.. I have a couple of seals and one of the new reproduction. I'll compare them all with the original to my '68....

That was another part that changed in mid-year 68. Depending on when your car was built, you could have had either. Josh's Muscle Car parts has the early 68 version. I bought one from him on ebay. I don't remember what his ebay name is though. I believe they have and ad on the sponsors page on Moparts.

He doesn't appear to have anything for the Charger on his Ebay store right now but if you go to his home page at http://www.alliancelink.com/users/joshsdodge/start.html you'll find them.

I am sorry Troy, I just figured with your knowledge you knew that. It seems in what I have dealt with
that most all of the 68's I have seen have the narrow trunk seal, they are not that easy to find, every
one you see on ebay says 68-70 and every time its the wider unit. All of mine are the narrow seals,
even my May 68 built 68 Charger, so I really have not figured out exactly when the change was,
and I don't think dodge has either  ;D  just need to look at your original and go from there.
It is hit and miss with Year One, some of the guys there can figure it out, but most just don't
care and send you the wide one even after I told them to make sure its the narrow unit  :shruggy:
