Chevy absolutely SUCKS...bottom line

WTF is the problem? I have entered several auctions on ebay, a couple local ads, and mentioning of this stuff to people. And not one thing has ever sold! Its all for the so called "legedary" 81-87 Chevy fullsize truck. Look at this:

OEM Thermostate housing w/bolts $0.99
OEM Differential cover w/bolts $0.99
New OEM cam and lifters $20
OEM intake $5
New flat hood $75
OEM water pump $5

And to beat it all, I live in the heart of hillbilly heaven, London KY! I swear to God these people kill me. You offer a good priced part for the one thing they would want buried in and they dont even show interest!

I wound up selling it all for $100 to my dad! Except the cam w/lifters which is on ebay right now...with of course, no bids.

Im obviously missing something, but I just dont know what.

Secondly, I have an 85 Chevy C-10...BOTH of the door lock MECHANISMS (not locks) are broke. Ive NEVER seen that happen! Last week I "Dukes of Hazzard" it to get out and so help me God if my foot doesent dent the friggen door....of a TRUCK! AN OLD TRUCK! Something thats "suppose" to be "like a rock". I have NEVER had THAT happen ever in my life with any other vehichle! So hows it gonna go and happen on a TRUCK!

Thirdly, I sell my old engine ('85 305) to a friend replacing his '85 305. Both trucks are the same, both engines are the same...but not a DAMN thing interchanges! It takes me, my dad, two mechanics and my girlfriends dad a WEEK to finish the installation! And were ALL very familiar in mechanical repair.

Fourthly: Dont even think your gonna go into Auto Zone and ask the idiot drooling on himself behind the counter for any help, or anybody else on Earth for that matter for some answers to ANYTHING about one of these trucks. Its amazing how the street becomes stupid when it comes down to some answers.

Fifthly: I "thought" when I bought this truck that due to its old simpleness, popularity, reputation, plentifulness, and ease of avalable parts...that this would be a wise purchase. But pardon my American, but holy SHIT was I WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One tip: It takes 5 complete trucks to fix one.

Troy

Maybe people just don't fix them? I just let stuff break on mine and then throw it away when it gets unusable. :D

The only part you had that I'd be remotely interested in would be the hood and that just happens to be the only part on my truck with no rust or dents.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

You think so, hahhhh?? Well I have a bunch of Dodge truck parts here that are rust free, Florida truck, that go through more years than your Chevy and I can't make anything on them.. I have 2 fenders, 2 doors, grill and tail gate.. I also have a complete 87' Dodge 150 that is rust free and so far I have been offered $500.00 for it..

Maybe it's our locations.. I make a bunch on Chevy shit down here..

Maybe its just truck parts altogether?

I thought that since you can buy Chevy mirrors at Wal-Mart and tailgates at 7-11 that that may be the reason, but hell, I just dont get it!

I actually like those Chevy C-10s

just a bad location, or maybe people around you just dont need them

as for ebay, I can understand - they seem sorta like insignificant for someone to go lookin for them on ebay ya know?

your best bet next time around is go find a resto shop and just sell it to them for those prices easy  :yesnod:

okay, so you have some parts off of chevy trucks that no one wants to buy even at cheap prices. throw the stuff  in the trash and get over it. i cant imagine why that would be a. surprising or b. a source of aggravation/frustration.

04lbram

What a small world. I grew up in London, KY and went to South Laurel High School. Anyways, I'm suprised you have sold those parts being Chevrolet Capital of the state lol. Anyways, I'm sure most people there have bought cars now with gas prices so most of the Chevy trucks are sitting on Johnny Watkins and Tincher Williams stealerships.

Copycat, not hardly my fellow charger owner. I had my plates on my charger in 1988. Do you think he had his plates back then? I doubt it. None the less, I did raise a lot of eyebrows with it. Plate is now hanging on my garage wall next to my others. 69HEMI is on my current car.

I know what you are saying..I have more 72 -80 Dodge stuff than I know what to do with. Where I am most of the mid 70's to mid 80's trucks are gone. They are getting old enough that most people are buying the '88 and up style Chevy trucks and junking the old ones out. That just makes the demand for your parts less. I just drove by a early 90's Chevy 4 x 4 in decent shape for $2,500 obo and I see decent running late 80's to early 90's Dodge 4 x 4's in the paper for $1000-2000 all the time. When the newer stuff gets that cheap most people quit trying to fix the old ones from my experience.

Maybe if you keep them another 20 years it will come back around like our old Mopars.   :shruggy:
