Cool trash find! (only guitar players will understand)

My uncle works at a dump. I told him to grab anything guitar related for me and over the years I got a few Hondo's, a few cheap amps, but look at what he found me last week. A Blackface 1966 Fender Pro Reverb! The thing is sick it is so clean! Just missing a couple of small parts. Sounds GREAT! I can't believe people are still throwing stuff like this out!

What do you need?
I know quite a few bands here and in The Netherlands who use vintage gear from guitars to mics, organs, amps, you name it.
I know a few guys who can get just about anything.
You should see the stacks of marshalls and voxes they got between them all, now that's sick 
Gotta love those old fenders, makes me miss my jazz bass.

Man that is nice I love the sound of Fender Reverbs. I also collect musical stuff guitars and amps mainly. I have a an early 50's Gibson tube amp my brotherinlaw paid .05 at a yard sale. I also have a few old guitars my last find was a 1968 Gibson SG, my daughter has since claimed as hers (as long as she plays she can use it) I have Gibsons and Fenders Amps and Guitars. I did get a Line 6 Modeling amp which is one of the coolest amps I have ever messed with. You can pick your amp and cabinet from all the great amps dating back to the 50's and it sounds so much like the map it is amazing. It has a some amps set up in memory (hendrix combo) Brian Mays sound.

I am set with parts. I appreciate the offer though. My line of work is in musical instruments and my close friend I have worked along side for years is an amp tech (also does vintage guitars and even vintage horns). He has all the stuff I need to complete it. He wants to change the filter caps, get all the tubes in his tester and wants to bias it for me too. He is so excited about it he has told me he will get it all up to spec for free, so I lucked out there too. BTW Doc, my uncle said he passed up on "Two big Marshal things with 4 speakers inside each" that ended up getting crushed for trash. He didn't have room for them and didn't want to drag them home to sit on them until I could come buy to pick them up. I told him from now on anything he sees like that to bring home and I will come up that night to pick up.

Hey LP, I have had a few old Gibson amps. They were very underrated at one point. I could buy great sounding Gibsons for under $200 all day long. I had a huge Fender collection, but cashed out in favor for my cars.

Come again Like old saxes? I can't get enough saxomophones, especially old American horns, If he's got or knows of any good playing (don't care about looks) Bueschers or Martins, Old Conns etc. he can always contact me here  mr.vis@telenet.be

sweet find!  in my opinion the marshalls, like the dinosaurs they are shuld be burried. so that wasnt such a bad thing. but you could have cashed out on em big to somebody who hasnt realised ya dont nead 120db on stage anymore. I am the stage manager for a popular local rock band. our guitar players bouth use 35 watt or smaller amps. lead player uses a line-6 preamp an it rocks! however if ya cant program them they arent that great. it just isnt worth hauling a full stack anymore when a single 12 is more than enough. 6 of us can setup the entire stage, pa, lights, drums, amps, ect in an hour or just over. back when people used those big amps it took 1/2 the day!

   the thing i cant believe is that nothing was trashed while it was in the garbage truck on the way to the dump! or was it a  drop off?

The area it is from the people have to bring their trash in, no garbage trucks.

Marshall combos are nice. I like the sound for overdrive but it has to be low wattage.

my problem isnt with marshall its with big azz amps in general ...but then , me being a bass player i have 1 setup that is a single 18 cab and a 2x10 cab, and another setup that is 2 15s and 4 8s in one cab...guess ima hippocrite but i dont play out myself. the band i work with the bass player doesnt even have a cab on stage. they all use in ear monitors except the drummer so the bass player just goes from his pre amp to the board. i love it ..makes my job much eazyer as sound man

The main reason I prefer small amps is I like real overdrive over effects pedal tone.

My first 'good' amp was an Ampeg V4. The cabs were so big they had built in dolly handles. That thing was rated at 100 watts, but it would smoke any JCM 800 in power, but lacked tone. Playing out at small clubs and stuff in high school, that was way too much amp. At the time it was all about power though.

Funny how that changes huh?  When I was younger, I had a half stack and more pedals than I could stick on my board at any one time.  Then I moved to a Twin, then to a Super, and now I'm looking at a Peavey Delta Blues 210 which is what 30? 35amps?  And the pedals are just things to move when the shelves get dusted.  I throw one on once in awhile for a laugh but that's about it.

i'm a bass player. and just about every guitar player i ever played with loved to turn up  the power. now that we're older we all play out of little 30 or 50 watt amps. i guess age does that. rene

  right now I'm using a little ten inch square ROLAND Mirco Cube Modeling amp,.. weighs maybe 4 lbs.
uses batteries so it's portable...I was lugging two 12s, and a 4-10 inch cabs. and my 330 watt. 70 Lb Johnson Millinium around to gigs... and about ten effects pedels too,.. prior to that I was using a ROLAND Jazz Chorus 120... anjd before that It was Peavey and CUSTOM AMPS..
Things have changed...

Cool, you like the Roland? I had a friend suggest I try one as I am looking for a small practice amp that is portable.

I have had a few Kustoms. They nail the CCR tone, but I never could find anything else in them that I liked. I did like the tuck and roll look though.

When I was a junior in high school I played through a Peavey Duce II, It was a very flat sounding amp. At a battle of the bands gig the power tubes got so hot the coating on the PC board and the wires went up in flames! Blue smoke was pouring out of it and it made the most horrible sound. Since then I have always had a grudge against Peavey's, but I know that they are better since the late 80's. I sold the tweed knockoff Peavey's during the 90's and everyone loved them and there was rarely ever any issues. Someday I will have to give one a shot.

I prefer tubes over solid state, but tubes don't always equal great tone. I have a Traynor Mark 3. It looks like a Fender Twin knockoff, but doesn't sound anything like a Fender. The amp is very flat and the reverb is not all that hot. That amp requires some spice from effects pedals.The only real asset is the amp is built like a tank. You can roll it down a flight of stairs and it will still work. One cool thing they did I wish everyone did was use a circuit breaker rather than a fuse. It also had Hammond transformers, which are durable as hell, but man, that power supply is huge and heavy. It alone weighs about as much as the entire Pro Reverb.

Another garbage find amp I have is a 1969 Sunn 100S. That one got rained on a while before being found. One of these days I will get new tubes in it and get it running, but it is such a high power amp I am not really interested in playing it.

The fender is a awesome find!! I have a old V4 head sitting in my closet Heavy as hell, makes my mesa seem light.
