How long do you wait before you recycle a joke?

I retold a joke today mere minutes after I heard it and it kind of felt odd and cheap. Did I recycle it too soon? How long should I have waited? On the flipside, what's the "use-by" limit on jokes so they don't get stale?

Me? 3 minutes.

Bob (Old Moparz), I think he waits until they're at least 30 years old before he tells them.

tell  it right away. just be sure to say, "you can blame -name- for that one"  .  proper credit for the joke is the way to feel good about yourself. unless your like me   and dont care

if i don't retell a joke within 5 minutes to SOMEONE. i tend to forget it. or at least part of it which ruins the joke...
