Hey guys Iwas thinking about putting on a set of edelbrock heads on my 383  Do you have to retorque them after break in? because if you do i am not pulling the tti headers and rocker shafts to retorque ill find some iron 906s instead any info would be helpful thanks Shawn

Plumcrazy

I installed a set of those heads on my 360 a couple of years age with Fel-Pro performance composition type head gaskets.   I never retorgued them.  :Twocents:

thallium

me too.  I have had the eddies on my charger for 3 years now. I read that in the instructions to retorque, but I never did. It's been fine.

Ghoste

I'd retorque them if they were mine but I'm kind of goofy that way.

lazarus

I always re-torque after break in. I've also heard it's a good idea to re-torque every year or so due to the different expansion rates of iron and aluminum.

Rolling_Thunder

I retorque after breaking the engine in and doing a few heat cycles...

I would retorque them. I never did and developed a small leak. Leak went away after torquing and them

But that isn't to say it was a re-torquing issue, YET....  I can think of a few other reasons for a blown head gasket..

That isn't to say I agree with NOT re-torquing either...  :shruggy:

Is it time for a beer yet?? :D
