Here is my situation:

My Charger came with the small flange/yoke on 741 Carrier. One of the screw holes got damaged threads sometime ago, but I fixed and isntalled longer bolts.

Got a NOS small flange/yoke to install.

Of course the driveshaft on my car does have the small one on my car.

Got the big flange/yoke on a 489 I'm trying to rebuilt.

I think I have storaged the driveshaft what does match with the 489 axle with big flange/yoke I'm trying to rebuilt so won't need to make shaft modifications... not sure thought.

Some really and noticeable difference on use one or another ? I MEAN AN IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE. My car never will be a race car but someday will get a Performance upgrade.

Good question id like to know as well...

You are probably just fine with the smaller one.  For me personally, I would go to the bigger one and I have broken the smaller joints but that has been at the dragstrip with slicks and other stupidity.  But all things considered, most street cars with automatic transmissions and normal use will be fine with the smaller one.  :Twocents:

forgott to say, both are same spline.

if you have a spare shaft with the large 7290 joints & you are using the carrier with the 7290 flange I would use the 7290 system
if you do not have the spare driveshaft you will be ok with the 7260 joints , Precision has a U joint that that si 7260 1 way & 7290 the other so you do not need to disturb the falnge on the 489 carrier & risk wrecking the crush sleeve

I got also a NOS crush sleeve on one of the ring/pinion kits I found, same as the flange.

Remember I'm rebuilding as far I can, the 489. Everything is unjoined. But can't find by the moments the carrier shaft and shaft spider gears. So does look I'll need to sleeve/bushing the gears, and refill the shaft worned areas and machine it
