I'm afraid that thing might be a total loss by the looks of it. Even the fender tag has cancer. The Tulsa Belvedere might actually be more salvageable, and that says a lot.

True story, I was getting tickets for parking on my yard everyday for about a week. My parking there hadn't been a problem until a neighbor starting calling the city, she said it was an eye sore. We loved it! That car was the nicest car that I had ever restored.

My dad and I finally got pissed off enough that went to the quarry and poured a gravel over the rest of the front yard. We didn't get another ticket after that, and ten years later mower is still launching river rock like bird shot. And our neighbor hasn't tested us since.

On that NE note, did they ever pass that junker law? Cars on blocks, visible from the road or not, could have been towed and crushed. Classics totaled in accidents would not be eligible for "buy back". etc? My Paddock catalog used to have a warning against such a bill being proposed in Oregon.

Nobody is spending $500 on a 1970 Charger 500 VIN and Tag. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool 500 SE, but most people concerned with re-bodies look for the ultimate payoff. If that was an R/T, I could see someone spending a little cash to "buy the car", but really only take delivery of a few tags and parts (err...title). I would love to have a 500 coded like that, but not that particular one.

I love the storyabout your neighbor, serves them right.  As far as the N.E. region.  I use to live in Rhode Island and had several projects at my house.  The neighbors complained that it was an eyesoar.  The cops came over and said I had to get rid of them.  I asked them to quote me the statute that I was breaking.  Anyway, I had to go to court.  Charges were dismissed.  3 weeks later, Dept of environmental mangt showed up with the epa saying that they needed soil samples, because they felt my cars poluted the ground.  one month later soil samples came back clean and my neighbors were still pissed

I haven't heard of any state laws here but I know there are plenty of city ordinances regulating that. However, none of them say anything about cars that are not visible from public view that I'm aware of. I haven't heard word one about any "buy back" ban.

Sorry, I did not see this thread sooner!!! It is the same car. I gave it to him because I could not do anything with it and he came and I helped him drag it out....it is a mess for sure....The floors are the best part that could be cut out....everything else is TOAST

I can answer some questions about it but I had no idea that it would end up on the 'bay!!!

That town is less than 1 hour from where I live. Sad he thinks there's something to save on that car.  He's obviously willing to sell the tag etc. to rebody.

I remember that car also. What a sad case in deed as stated by the present owner. More like crush the damn thing and be done w/it. Trying to sell vin tags/numbers. Can you say jail time included. Wish I was closer to the dumbass so I slap him personally. Good usable tail panel, somebody needs to clue the guy in that they are making repos now and that won he has is a basket case along w/the rest of the pile of rust thats faded yellow!

No it is not I. I no longer have it. I GAVE it to him as it was GIVEN to me.  If I would have had the tools, I would have cut the floors out and used them for mine as everything is toast.

The way that I was told the story...the guy who said that I could have it explained how the car GOT in the ravine. he said that a guy was running the winding road and before there had been a guardrail there the dude drove the car off the hill and straight into the ravine. I have heard other stories but I have no idea as this is what I was told. I heard a story of the car trying to be repo'd but that was hearsay...the only one who really knows why the car was there is the person who put it there and I have no clue who that was...

Yeah my parents did that 15-20 year ago with my moms old 69 Lemans...     She was sick of that car because she had been driving it since high school and it just kept on going.  There was nothing really wrong with it but when we moved they didnt want to take it to they gave the motor to my uncle and let it roll down into a ravine.  Im assuming they knew the guys who owns the land?     Its probably still there but id hate to see what kind of shape its in.  I dont understand the logic in that at all, it would have made a really fun driver...

I know what you mean. It was somewhat a norm back in the day. I remember fishing along rivers when I was a kid and the farmers would line the river banks with cars to help with the erosion. I remember fishing on the hood of an ole coupe and the black paint got hot as hell in the sun so I on the lighter colored ones. People would jump up and down on the roofs to make an indention so you wouldn't slide down to the water.I remember when my dad set lines on front windshield posts when they were half submerged

The guy selling it ripped me off on some parts a couple of years ago. Ebay actually stepped up and refunded my money minus their "deductible". I personally think he's a dirt bag, but that's just my opinion.

according to local legend, the car was running/driving when sent down the ravine and then after it was flipped, they went in and used the hood to drage the motor/trans up the hill and back to their house. When I found it, there were no tires, rims, axles etc. The person who owns the land said that the car had been sitting down there for a Loooooooonnng time. It shows..I had accepted it because it was given to me. Once I gave it away, you see wherre it is now...

When I was a kid, there was a couple of cars in the woods on an abandoned road near my house.  we always played near them and talked about how they got there.  the "legend" was they were racing and crashed and caught fire.  they were so far gone that you could not even tell what they were.  For kids, it's a great conversation piece to find in the woods and play on/talk about...

The seller contacted me by email and I explained what I know about VINs. he has been very helpful in getting me parts for mine and I have not had a beef with him. he is searching or a passenger door for me right now and has never given me any reason to doubt his integrity so I never have. I gave him that car since he transported the 68 to me with no add'l cost. I thought it was great because I have had no way to provide my own transport.
