Any problems with the radio in the glove box?

I was thinking of putting the radio in the glove box; but I would like to know if there are any common issues of having it in there. Other then not being able to see the radio from the driver's seat; that's why there's a remote. :D But really any wiring issues, over heating of the deck in the glove box or anything else that comes to mind?

FLG

Nothing comes to mind. Especially because newer radios use LED lights (heck some just have touch screens) which run alot cooler.

I've got the radio in the glove box on my '57 NY, the wireless remote doesn't work with the door closed or even slightly cracked; had to go to a wired remote.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

You could put in an IR repeater to fix the remote problem.

I was thinking of putting the deck in the dash but I don't want to cut it up so glove box it will be.

oh.  will a new style radio deck fit into the gloveboxes of our cars?  i didnt even try, assumed it was not deep enough.  hmmm...

I think you have to modify the back of the glove box a bit  :'(

The glove box is cheap & easy to cut out...no harm, no foul in cutting one up....

One thing to consider, though, is that if you're using speakers run directly off the stereo, it *will* generate quite a bit of heat from the internal amps.  Probably not a problem, though - I wouldn't worry about it overheating, just keep the heat in mind when you're deciding what it will be against.

just going to run the front speakers and cd changer off the deck, the rear speakers will be on the amp  :musik010: :punkrocka: well thats the plan just thinking on where the changer and amp will be going    I am just making sure that the deck will not generate too much heat in that small space.
