I saw that. Someone started a thread about it a few weeks ago maybe and I was the first one to whine about the price. Actually, I said it seems odd that you can buy the entire chromed pot metal console setup from PG Classic for a few bucks more.

im thinkin those tail light housings are a little more intricet than the console parts

Maybe, but what the console kit lacks in intricacies it makes up for in materials. More metal, more chrome, etc. Besides, once the mold is made it's off to the races.

Serious question though, does it really matter how intricate the part is? I'm no expert on the process but doesn't it involve making a mould of a nice part? The mould doesn't care how many curves and bends there are in the part, I mean it's not hand-made stuff is it?

they have to pay the people to design the mold and the t light mould would be much harder to build would be my guess and that is just a guess as im no expert on that either ...but as far as the chrome goes the whole part is chromed just not alot of it shows when installed , atleast not from the outside.

Another reason the price is higher could be the total number of units they anticipate selling. Compared to how many Dodge & Plymouths were built with consoles in 1968, the number of 68 Chargers that are still left needing tail lights has to be a lot less. The consoles are universal & will fit in all B-Body cars, but the Charger tail lights are "ONLY" for Chargers.

Same goes for the price of replacement quarter panels on 5 billion 68 Camaros compared to 5 thousand 68 Chargers. There are only so many potential customers.

A bit of news I heard this past week is the new charger tailight bezels are side specific and the new repops are NOT so there may be fit issues.

thats actually really old news and its been taken care of for a few months already. but if you have a set that you bought before they realized the problem id get on sending them back so you can get the correct parts.

Backup light lenses are side-specific too but interchangeable.

is this just for the  main housing, or the 4 round pieces that hold the tailight lenses too?

Hmm, 925 bucks for complete tailight housings... I had a set done for 175/each including the rings about 5 or 6 years ago.  Even if it's double that now, the repro price is a bit much to swallow.  Have rechroming prices really gone up that much that these are even in the ballpark with getting your existing ones redone?  cores are certianly cheap enough.
