Inner framerails?

what did everyone do to clean the 40 years of dirt etc out of there framerails and remove rust etc? i shouldn't have to much trouble with the rear ones because i am cutting out rotten trunk floor but i don't need to change floorpans and i am tempted to do it anyway just so i can clean them up. the rails under the hood just have spot welded caps on them so i think i am gonna open them up to do it.
1968 xp29 charger thats now rust free.. and trunk free and floorboard and quarterpanel free.
1972 b5/b5 318 barracuda patently waiting its turn.
