TBCharger

Hi, Im trying to sell my '72 Charger, but im not getting very far because Im not sure what its worth. I think it is somewhere from $10-15K. Somebody please tell me if Im right or wrong. Here are the details and pictures.

1972 Dodge Charger
All #'s matching 318 and 904 trans.
Engine rebuilt with about 9k miles
Transmission rebuilt with about 5k miles
Mild cam
I believe the Wheels, steering wheel, sound system, and cam are the only things on the car that are not original.
Top banana yellow
Not original paint job, but original color.
Black interior with bench seats and column shift
Runs very well, I drive it every day.
does not need much-dash is cracked, no headliner, Paint has alot of chips and a few deep scratches. Also there is a bug in the electrial [img]system,so it has a push button(the ignition has to be on)
Canopy vinyl top(Brand new, the original caused the roof to rust, but has been repaired)
Mileage is unknown, odometer says 33K, but im sure it has rolled over.
The glove box is filled with documentation-Receipts all the way back to the 70s, bill of sales, even Original window sticker and build sheet.
Original A/C, but does not work.
Even has original spare tire.(not that I would recommend using it.)
Body is very straight and solid, the only major rust was under the vinyl top, but that has been taken care of. The only rust on the car now is in the usual areas: small spots on both front fenders, behind wheel openings, and probably under window trim. Floorboards and trunk are as solid as they can be.

If the pictures are not working or if you need more details let me know please.
Thanks for any help.

Not sure what its worth but I like the color!  Hopefully you can get the pics to work, you wont get a very accurate price range without em...

TBCharger

OK, how do you post pictures? :shruggy:

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

Thanks, here they are.

OK thanks for the help, but if its only worth that much then why does NADAguides say 8K for low retail and 16K for average? And another question; Im not planning on doing this, but just wondering, would it be worth more if it had a non-numbers matching 440 or 383 or any other engine for that matter?

Charger1973

NADA stands for National Automobile Dealers Association.  That should explain why the prices in it are  :image_294343:

Oh. Oh well. Guess I wont be getting as much as a I though I would. I still love it and kinda dont want to sell it.

69charger2002

yeah NADA on my wife's 70 R/T SE numbers 440 is $108000 in excellent condition, which it is. real EBAY price even MAY be $40-50k. NADA's prices seem to generally be very high
good luck selling your car if you do

NADA is not a good source for values of collector cars.

IMO a well built big block 440 or 451 stroker can take the price up to 9-10K

OK thanks for all the help.

sell it in Canada, you'd get easily the $10,000 U.S. asking price even with a 318! Prices for these things in BC are through the roof!  :brickwall:

IMO the car is very clean from what I see in the pix but becuase it is a base 318 model it probably will not bring 15,000..Unless someone with money really wanted your car at all cost.It being a 318 car is what will  probably be the deciding factor of it's resale value. :Twocents:

Good luck!

it's a sweet lookin ride, that may make worth a bit more i'd think..  :shruggy:
5 K seems pretty low... at least out here in cali.. nice car to upgrade to a 360/440 i'd think that's what i'd (want to) do...

good luck, nice to see her, she's a real sweetie...  :2thumbs:

Nice looking Charger!  :2thumbs:

I'd drive it :yesnod:  And that says something as I am not a big fan of yellow cars.

Thanks for the compliments! I do want to put a big block in it, but it is the only car I have, so gas would be killin me. :drive:

Big Lebowski

E-bay might get you 8-10k. You might end up spending 10k to get your 15k asking price. It costs $$$ to put a hot 440 in the Charger, because you also need the BB 727 & a new TTI or factory BB exh., BB radiator, drive shaft, torsion bars, BB K-frame or Schumacher motor mounts, etc., and everything else.
"Let me explain something to you, um i am not Mr. Lebowski, you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the dude, so that's what you call me. That or his dudeness, or duder, or you know, el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing."

By the way, that is one sweet Charger. I would keep it and drive! :yesnod:

Thanks! I think I am going to keep it, unless somebody offers me alot of money for it. I feel lucky to have it, because im only 17. I got it when I was 16 and have been working on it ever since. Ive learned alot from it. :buff:
