Back in college i had a roommate in our house that would play Quake about 14 hours a day.  He covered his window in his room and never came out.  We always thought he was kinda strange.  :poke:

I was never into video games, maybe just a few at the arcade like "Pole Position" a long time ago. (Yeah, it's been a while, lol.) I've seen people trance out playing them, it's pretty strange. I won't get my daughter any home game set up, except for her Nintendo DS. She plays it mostly during car rides, or when we go camping & get stuck in the trailer when it rains.

I also never understood why anyone would camp out for 3 days in front of Wal-Mart when a new toy comes out. :shruggy:

An addiction? I believe it. My youngest son can park it in front of his confuzer for a whole day & see no problem with that. Now & then, I'll "accidentally" lose the power cord for the DSL box for a few days just to prove his addiction to him.
The guy across the street had a divorce brought on by his gaming addiction. The chick he's married to now seems to understand...for now. ::)

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I was addicted to Twisted Metal 4 and Tomb Raider II on Play Station when i was in college but after i finished the game and then checked my grades at the end of that semester, i decided that it was time to stop playing video games.  Now i break it out to play the vintage games like Pac-Man, PitFall, and Frogger, but after an hour i turn it off and go do something else.
My old neighbors kids would sit in their house and play all day long.  :slap:

When i was a kid all my friends got Nintendo when it came out and my Mom told me to go outside and play.  I guess she was right. :yesnod:

Never quite got the whole video game thing.

It just didn't seem quite as exciting as a couple of cinderblocks, a board, and a BMX bike.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

I loved Nintendo as a kid!  Heck I still do...  I got it around the time it came out, I was about 8 years old then.  I played that thing every day for years and years.  I never really got into anything newer than Super Nintendo though.  I still have my old Nintendo and about 100 games.  Every time I see one at a garage sale or flea market that I dont have, I pick it up.  I think they made like 800-900 games?   :shruggy:  So im sure i'll buy a few more.   :icon_smile_big:  I rarely play it anymore but it is fun to mess with when im really bored.

I'm not a gamer, but will get into it for periods of time - like when a new GTA game comes out, I'll play it a couple of hours a day, every day, for a month (until I beat the game). I won't watch tv or be online that much - but otherwise I don't let it get in the way of my "normal" life. After that I won't even turn on the console for months at a time.

I saw this episode of "Intervention" on A&E about a kid who was addicted to gaming. He had this hot piece of ass chick friend (who obviously wanted to get with him) begging him to stop playing so that they could spend more time together - the dude refused. He finally relented, went to a rehab place, bailed out after a couple of days, and was playing video games a week later. The chick finally got fed up with him and cut him off. That's when you know you're addicted - when you're turning down poon to play Halo.

I have a Playstation 2, Haven't gotten a  3 because that is stupid money for a video game. I will play the thing some and blow off steam. I have a couple car chase games and racing games, my favorite is Driver: Parallel lines It's fun to crash cars and blow crap up! GOOD for blowing off steam!

I don't even actually "play" the game, I goof off and crash cars for a while.

I also have Nascar 3 On the computer.  Again, throw the iPod on  and make laps for a little while! Then I am done. I will run 50-100 lap races but I am not sitting here for 3-4 hours to run a whole race!

I just use em as a diversion now and then.

Daytona R/T SE

I played Pac-Man with some Chick in a bar in Bradenton, Florida....

This was in 1982...

I can't honestly remember playing a video game since that night....

Am I addicted ?  :eek2:

here ya go...a clip from the Intervention. They dont really show the hot friend, but you can catch a glimpse of her. The dude is such a loser douchebag.

Forza

Im a big gamer, used to spend hours sitting at the computer. Now I dont know if I grew out of it but I usually only play an hour or so and go to bed. Only really get the time to play on my days off and even then I gatta get all my yard work done first. Some kids just take it way too far and haven't learned to moderate it. There was a good documentary on TV about some of those kids.

Hell just make em move out and get their own place and make em get a job. That'll kill their free time for gaming.

Mike DC

I'm with Ponch.  Not a gamer normally, but I occasionally get into a game for a few weeks.
Gaming has just never been able to get its hooks into me like it does so many people I've known.

Seems like almost anything can function as a problematic compulsion/addiction for at least a few people out there.

a home made hockey net and some sticks will do the trick too!!

behind every "gamer" addicted sole is someone who is allowing it to happen.

Big Lebowski

Do Flight simulators w/ the enhanced scenery count? My favorite is the 747 jumbo jet, I can take off & land back at the runway in 3 minutes. You would NOT want to be a passenger on one of my 747 flights, I can make you barf or crap your pants either way. Here's the best way to have fun...Go straight up to 30,000 ft., turn around, lower the landing gear, full flaps, and shut off all 4 engines. See if you can dead stick a 747 back down to your local airport. :2thumbs:

Well, I am gonna call hubby out on this one.....we have original Nintendo, super Nintendo, playstation, playstation 2, and x-box (we had a sega dreamcast, but got rid of it).  We also have gameboy color, gameboy advanced, and PSP (which is Mine).  When the stupid navy seal games and some other fighting game came out he was obnoxious about them....I was a game station widow!!!  He would be there for HOURS!  He would get so pissed off when he couldn't get a level right away.  Man sometimes it was so funny to watch him get mad at the dang game.  Then we got the X-box, supposedly for me so I could play Halo, but he played it more than me.  Now all the sysytems sit somewhere in the house not being played, taking up space, and collecting dust...until he goes on deployment...then he takes them out and with him.  My neighbor and I were just having a conversation about this last night...how lazy the kids are getting with wanting to sit and watch tv and play video games or be on the computer all day long.  My girls beg for their own tv, but I refuse.  I think that if they want to watch tv then they can watch it with us in the living room.  Once and a while they can watch tv in my bedroom if I am busy watching my great lifetime movies...lol  Otherwise..GET YOUR LAZY BUTT OUTSIDE AND PLAY!!!!

My wife is addicted to 'World of Warcraft'.   Cracks me up sometimes, she litterally plays it whenever she's not at work.   I always laugh at some of the stereo types associated with Video game players, my wife is a "White-Collar" worker in her mid-30's!   Not what I'd picture for a hard-core gamer!   :smilielol:    But, I really don't care, its her hobby kinda' like mine is my Charger.

I never really got in to gaming. I had a PS2 for about 6 months and I ended up selling it, because I never used it. I do have a Dreamcast that I use from time to time when I have nothing better to do. I would probably sell that to if it wasn't for the fact they don't make 'em any more. To me games just get boring after playing them so long. I don't see how people can sit there for 14 hours playing videa games. It would drive me absolutely nuts.

I have a Playstation 2 but Im not obsessed or addicted to it. Its funny though, most of my games are racing games and all my friends tell me to get non-racing games.

Most of my racing games have muscle cars in them too. Here are my games that have muscle cars in em.

Test Drive: 71 Cuda, 70 Chevelle SS, 67 GTO, 69 Charger
Test Drive Eve Of Destruction: 69 Barracuda, 70 Camaro, 70 Cuda, 73 Charger, 74 Javelin, 67 Elcamino
Driver 3: 67 Mustang, 70 Challenger
Toca Race Driver 2: 67 Shelby Mustang GT 500
Dukes Of Hazzard: 69 Charger (duh lol)

Also, I just rented a game called Fast and the Furious. In it, there is a 06 Charger Daytona, 70 Chevelle SS, 67 Mustang and a 69 Charger RT 440. Only 3000 more points and I can go from a ricer to the Charger RT!! :D

I do play games occasionally, just not as much as when I was younger. The worst thing I did was drive the 24 hours of LeMans together with my cousin, 6 hours on, 6 hours off. We were dead after that and my thumb hurted for 2 days.

Well over today, on my rented Fast and The Furious game...I managed to buy 2 Chargers and a 06 Charger SRT-8. The 2 Chargers are 69s. I made a Mr. Angry (yes, I know Mr. Angry is a 68 but I only had a 69 to work with) and a General Lee.
