More info. needed.

Did you change anything else or was it a running motor before the change??

1) is there fuel in the tank?
2) is there a fuel pump push rod in the block?
3) Check your fuel line for cracks.
4) Fuel filter could be plugged.
5) Needle could be stuck shut to the seat.
6) Big Fu@king Gremlin..... :eek2:

Did you put the fuel pump rod back in :D

To answer your question, yes there are cams without the fuel pump lobe. Usually rollers. Easy for you to check.

right now imusing a crappy mr. gasket electric pump.  also the only arm that i use was the one that is sticing out of the pump when i bought it

There is a pushrod that moves the arm on the pump you bought.  When you installed the pump, did it feel difficult to get the bolts in, or did the pump bolt up with ease.  The reason being: if you have a pushrod in the motor, it will compress the arm of the pump when installing.  This makes it more difficult to bolt up.  If not, the pump would just sit flush against the block while you bolt it it.

the pump sat flush. is that a bad thing

You still haven't said if there was a fuel pump pushrod installed on this engine when it was rebuilt.  :scratchchin:

Without the pushrod....no mechanical pump will work.  :yesnod:

i dont think that one was installed.  how do i installl this

firefighter3931

Ok, now we're getting somewhere.  ;)

Beneath the fuel pump will be a plug.....the plug has to be romoved and the fuel pump rod will slide into the hole. I use some grease to hold the pump rod up....this helps when installing the fuel pump. Once the rod is in place and the plug is back in....install the fuel pump and make sure that the end of the rod is riding against the lever attached to the fuel pump. It will be somewhat difficult to install because the pushrod will be compressing the fuel pump lever as you tighten it towards the block.
