God this has been an awesome night. I went to my grade 9 grad banquet...slow danced twice with a girl that Ive liked for a long time and then I come home to see a picture of a bunch of ricers pancaked.  :icon_smile_wink:

Can I get a pic of your girl for my website???

I have to dissagree.  If you can't lose them right away, you're toast, but that first 5 minutes can do allot.  When you're going that fast and you pass a cop, there's no need to even wonder if he's coming after you.  he is.  so, keep the pedal in the floor and run like hell.  chances are he was sitting still, and if you're moving at 80+ you'll be out of sight before he can catch up.  if he never got your plate and lost line of sight, he can't prove a thing.  I know.  I've done it.

You guys really think it's that funny? Ricers or not, they're car guys like us. We may not really like their scene, they may not like hours, but that still doesn't mean they deserve to have their cars crushed. You old timers should know - I read posts all the time about "back in the day" when you were killing Camaros/Mustangs/etc..on your MOPAR. Let's see how funny you guys think this is when we see the first picture of a Challenger or a GTX getting crushed for doing a little burnout.

I think alot of it had to do with the fact that they were buiding their cars from stolen parts.  They steal import cars and strip them down for parts to put together their cars.  One guy said in the article that his VIN must have fallen off and got lost.   :hah:

We've all bought parts off eBay and other places. And most of us 'regular' MOPAR guys (as opposed to the Galen paying crowd) have non-numbers matching engines, trannys, rear ends, etc.. that we "bought off some guy" at a swap meet or off the recycler. How do we know they arent stolen? And if they are and we get caught...do we deserved to have our cars destroyed?

Yep...its a waste. At least auction them off for charity or something. Maybe it'll give a good kid a chance to get his hands on one and be responsible with it. Think of our reaction if someone got caught racing a 68 Charger, and it was about to be crushed. We'd all be like "that is such a crime! don't crush it! they guy might have been an idiot, but if I owned that car I wouldn't street race it!"

Im not saying its ok, because I think its stupid too...  Im just saying that I think they were trying to make an example out of these guys and thats why they crushed them.  I cant see that lasting as an everyday punishment.

The VIN number story is funny though....    :icon_bs:  :smilielol:

The whole thing is sad. Maybe they should set up a program that the local police department set up here. One police officer set up the program to keep the street racing off the streets. He gets these guys to take there cars to the drag strip. Race legal. :Twocents:

We have a race legal here in SD too.  They have it like once a month or so at the Charger's stadium.  The problem is that not all of the kids go and they race when they want to.  There have been so many deaths here in SD due to illegal street racing....I actually was almost hit from behind by a guy who was racing someone else on the highway...they don't "rope off" streets to do it down like in the movies around here...they flat out do it down the Interstate with traffic everywhere.....

I like racing ...but not on the streets ...too much to lose. And I'm not talking about the guy behind the wheel either. Hey, we're all guilty. I did it in my day, even my Dad (in the 60's).  These guys have no idea of the path of destruction that can be left behind in accidents due to the manuevering/avoidance from other drivers just trying to get out of their way. That's the problem.  I don't care of the racer risking his own life.....but I do get a little sick thinking of what "could happen" to the other unlucky drivers who are just trying to get home.  :icon_smile_angry: :icon_smile_angry: :icon_smile_angry:

not gone off yet,
i wanna say sth

illegal racing gives much pleasure but we know that it s dangerous 4 everyone. because of this we rarely race in the streets.(as american car drivers)
i know that there many American Lovers&drivers here in Turkiye who love to punish all those ricers (imports, some of them really rednecks.. etc) by their muscles or any ordinary American cars  in the street...
we re always tryin to make them show respect to all American cars in Turkiye. next time when they see us cruising they salute us showin their respect.  we always show them that V8 is better than Vtecs etc...
but many people dont know what an impala is. when they see us cruising they say; "my grandfa had a chevrolet mustang it was 4 door huge car, he sold it because it used to consume fuel like water flowing from a tap" :icon_smile_big:

( sorry if I miswrote,my english is poor )

Arthu®

I agree with Mojo on this one, it is a waste to crush them and how many of us here don't have a Charger that used to be a 318 but is now a 440 that we bought on e-bay for next to nothing. It could very well be stolen...
