whats the roughest grit sand paper you want to use? i sanded my fiire wall down with a die grinder with a small sanding pad.and noticed when i started wet sanding that some scratches where not coming out ,i used a sanding kit from harbor freight and used a 60 grit pad in couple of places and i think it was a bit mutch.

I used 40 grit on my firewall followed by 80 grit then 220 grit

The roughest I've used sanding the whole body is 60 grit. I follow that with 120 then with 220.

I use the 3m stripping discs, (black plastic) for taking spots down they are less aggrsive then grinding and remove fast, otherwise I use 80 grit on bare metal (with a DA)  followed by metal prep, it gives epoxy primer a good tooth to adhere to. But always refer to your paint system for what is best.

thats the exact same combo I go with.  60 at high rpm will take off any paint or rust you want gone and  pretty fast.  it lasts a long time as well.
