Tricky Radiator Hose Problem

I have a dilemma with my radiator hose I'm trying to work out. I've got a 440 with a non-stock radiator that came out of an unknown car. My lower radiator hose is shot, and the problem is that this strange radiator has it's lower hose fitting on the other (passenger) side rather on the driver side of the vehicle. So basically this hose goes down out of the water pump, wraps under the oil filter, and goes across under the fan to the far side of the radiator (passenger side) and plugs in there rather than just coming out of the pump and heading straight down to the radiator hose fitting on a stock 440 radiator.

I went to the local parts shop and went through the "Gates" radiator hose book over and over and I couldn't come up with anything.

The radiator has a 1 3/4" OD hose connector on it, and the 440 water pump has a 1 3/4" OD connector, too.

Can anyone think of anything a guy on a budget can do in this case? I really want to get my car on the road, but I'm on a budget right now and a new radiator is something I really want to avoid for the time being. Is there some kind of 1 3/4 radiator hose that is just straight and can be bent to fit what I need? Any other ideas?

assuming its a 440, there is 2 styles of water pump housing one has passenger side outlet the other driver side, i think it was mid 1973 that they switched, i can't remeber which is which offhand.  ;)

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

it will cost you the same either way time or money.  4 feet should do the trick.

Thanks for the great tips! I guess that radiator must have been out of a 73 or later model, then. Yeah my water pump snout is on the drivers side. I am not sure if I will go with the pump replacement or the hose yet, but either idea sounds really do-able on a budget.  :2thumbs:
