the neutral saftey switch will stop the starter from working but not the ignition system.

thats very possible, if you are running a remote starter button, if i was at home and could flip through my books i could tell you in a hurry. if i remember right when the tranny is in nuetral or park the switch is connected to ground? i could be backwards though, that sheds a whole new light on things and someone here should remember whether to ground the lead or not to get it to start

Have you pulled a plug and checked if your getting spark? Make sure you let the place air out, and take out a plug and make sure your getting a bright blue spark.

Thats strange that it will only crank 3 times, maybe a faulty solenoid switch? Even if your timing is way off it should still turn over more than 3 times.

Also, do you have the plug wire on #1 on the distributor cap? You need to make sure that you check for TDC and then set your #1 wire, then the rest of your firing order.

chargerman68

im using a remote starter not threw the ign switch....checked all wire and #1 on cap also firing order all checked out.

I mean the actual relay switch on the firewall.....

Did you check for spark?

General_01

Here is a question. When you are turning the car over with the remote starter, do you have the key in the run position? :ahum: Not sure if it needs to be, but just something to throw out there. I think your timing is advanced to far, that is why it only cranks 3 times.

stick your light on the power lead to the coil, i think you mentioned you had power there already but check it while cranking the engine over and see if you don't have the ingnition wired into a run circiut instead of a run/start circuit.
