Because the owner probably closes the hood when he drives. :icon_smile_big: It would probably look ok if he removed the hood (and the grille, the two rear doors, the fenders, etc.).

How can it be a waste of a good engine if he's out winning money in it ?

Given your hatred of the new body style, sounds like you'd be easy money for this guy.... :'(

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  Some people like the way it looks.  And, I believe that quite a few people would not be complaining about the looks AT ALL, if it was not named Charger. :eyes:
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

So what transmission is he running in this new Charger with the 426 HEMI? I haven't had a chance to look at the underside of an 06 Charger, is there enough room to sqeeze in a 727 trans?

Yep, and I think it's ugly - I don't care what they call it. I can't stand the new Dakota or that awful chrome grill on the trucks either. That car could run 10s all day long and get 45 mpg and it still won't impress me with its looks. Maybe I'm picky but that car does absolutely nothing for me (but most newer cars don't).

I really like the police version of the new Charger and Magnum, damn those look mean, better than the CVs.

Because he could have put it into a car that deserves a real hemi. He could have paid $7k for a 318 Charger, dropped the 426 in it and quadrupled his money overnight.

I'd probably lose a race to a blown 351 Pinto but that doesn't make the Pinto any better looking.

Yes the pinto thing is true, but there'd be a guy who drove a fast pinto, who believed it was a good looking car, who'd be the richer for it.

To play Devil's advocate- why does a 318 Charger deserve a Hemi. ?
It was most likely bought as a stylish grocery getter, family car with room for 5 people ;  with the base engine offered, and highway 2.76 gearing, and a suspension that would be overwhelmed by the weight and power of a 400+ HP motor.

Also if it's so simple buying 7K$ chargers, dropping Hemi's into them + quadrupling your money, why don't you do that ?
Then you can take some of the profits, find new Chargers, and crush them w/ a Bulldozer, just to show your complete comtempt for them. Then pay the owners replacement value. This way you wouldn't have to lower your dignity by driving your bulldozer onto a Dodge dealership lot. :icon_smile_wink:

I'm confused here.  In the beginning of the thread, you talked about the Hemi already being in the Magnum sedan and your buddy was out taking everyones money in races.  Now, you are talking about how you are building a custom firewall (present tense) and there will be a 727 behind the Hemi (future tense).  Which is it?  Is this thing on the road or not?
