Hey irrigation experts....

I have this rotary sprinkler head that's not working properly.. I moves with the beat for about 4 to 5 beats and then stops.. I can't see where the problem is... I do know it was hit by my lawn care business, but can't prove it.. So, I wanna fix it myself.. Can I take apart this head or do I need to dig out the complete unit?  Any help would be appreciated....

swap it with another head and see what happens.  that might narrow it down.

good luck

I have Toro heads and the top just unscrews.  I just replaced one actually.

I agree with Mike...ok, both Mike's. ;D
I don't have that particular type, so this idea might not be completely accurate...you should be able to pull it up (like in the 2nd pic), hold the lower shaft stationary & unscrew the head. Let the shaft down slowly, in case it tries to disappear into the depths.

I had those same heads on my system when I lived in Vegas years ago...........Best and easiest thing to do is just replace them when they act up. :yesnod: :2thumbs:

Thanks guys.........

So, the sprinkler head should unscrew from the main shaft that "pops" up?

Thanks..

I'm not really an expert but:
Their motion is driven by water pressure. So, either the pressure is too low to drive it, or there's some source of friction that the force of the water pressure can not overcome.
It's likely the latter.
I'm not too sure about taking that unit apart, but if you go at it with the attitude of "I'll replace the whole thing if I have to." you might just get it fixed and learn something at the same time.

Thanks again to all..

Since the top of the cover plate was ripped off by the lawn crew, it has to be the sprinkler head.. I found a source for the RainBird Mini rotating impact sprinkler head locally at about $9.00 !!!  Cheap enough fix...
