So, I was just curious as to how much you all paid for your Chargers? You can disclose if you'd like and when you bought, model year of car, complete or need restoration. I'm just curious just because I'm an E-Body owner for right now anyways.

xp29f8b

MY 68 cost $3K when I bought it in 2002 and the body needed restoting but the engine, brakes and exhaust were completed. I am currently replacing all of the bad metal.

Badbob

My #'s matching 1969 Charger 383 4bbl, console 4-spd, power sunroof was free. Needs a complete resto, was complete, including the oe date coded plugwires. It has not been licenced since 1978. B5 blue with white top and interior. The same guy sold me his 66 big block Coronet for $300. I got these both about 8 years ago.The Duster I paid $400 for about 17 years ago. :icon_smile_big:

Spartan

I bought mine for $2,700 back in 84.   383 2 bbl auto with factory a/c. with about 80k miles on it but ran like a champ.   Only needed a new vinyl top and fix the drivers fender.   67 Charger year earlier with 383 2 bbl for $3,200 and 62k miles.   It was good except needing a center piece for the tail light (Sold it to my dad later that year to buy the 69).   We still have both cars :)

The funny thing is, I paid almost double last year to rebuild my engine...DOH!   :rotz:
Over?! its not over until we say it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!...Hell no! and its not over now!..(Germans? Pearl Harbor?...shut up, he's on a roll)

dodgecharger-fan

I paid $1000 for the car and $4100 for all the new-in-the-box parts piled in it and the recent engine rebuild that I got the receipts for.
This was in 2002.

Not a bad deal on the surface, but the car has had more than double that in labour put into it already and It's not in paint yet. Then add the cost of the repop body parts to that.  :rotz:

NHCharger

I paid $1,200. for my 71SE, 383 auto ten years ago and drove it home. Have put about 6k into it since, needs a new paint job now.
Paid $2,000. for my 72 Charger, 318, Petty blue, five years ago. Had a brand new engine and new body work and paint. Got it home, took it apart, and realized I paid $2,000. too much for it. ::)

Bought my 69 about 3 years ago for  7K  and have put about 3500K into it was pretty much completed. Had shotty wiring . Redid all of the wiring.  Got new wheels , made an aluminum drivers dash with autometer gauges.  Put in new carpet and almost done with the Hurst shifter.  swapped gears to 3.73 Posi .    soon I will be dropping in a 440 for the 318 that it came with and that's run me about and extra 8500k

Not a fair question for me to answer. I bought my 69 Charger Rusted / Trash in I think 1989 for $500.00 and drove it home. Raced a friend's 318 B-body and he won. Yep she was in sad shape. Did a head job and ran great again with some work.

Reason It not a fair question, I do all my body and paint work. In 1995 she broke in half from rust and i saved her again. Then dropped in the ill fated 42sick. Then I got a wild hair up my ass and did a blowen 440 that is in the Charger now.

I did drive the Charger 62,000 miles as well before she broke in half as well.

With the Blowen 440 (that is what cost the most to date) replacing the interior, rear frame rails, the 42sick painting two times I have around $35,000 in the Charger. Blowen 440 is $12,000 of that so $23,000 is not bad for fixing a Charger that broke in half, painted two times, all new interor, new trans, heads on the old Big Block, new bars for the front, new everything under the hood two times and 62,000 miles of fun and pure joy.

If I would factory in my time at $52.00 a hour X 600 hours + $32,000 for parts = $63,200.00. Dived that by 16 that is $3950 a year and the new 440 has not been started yet. $63,200 divied by 62,000 miles is only $1.01 dollar a mile and have yet another 50,000 with the blower to go.

She and I have had some tuff times toegther. But running 100 MPH for 2 hours is pricless. New inter state open and no cops to be found. Guy in the Porsche was sure wondering what the heck I had. Big Block Mopar Baby with 2.76 sure grip!

Best story I have was coming from KC, raider love cam on the radio and I let her roll. Got nailed for 85 MPH in a 85. Younger Tropper pulled me over. Older tropper was his back up. Walked over to me, looked at the Charger, Plum crazy, Black R/T stripe then said. "son, you are in a hep of trouble" be both busted out at the same time! He got the ticket down to 65 MPH in a 55 MPH.

Oh, the look on the faces of the guy in the W-30 old 442 when I smoked him and I mean smoke him. Had the 42sick in the Charger, ran like a bear but must have been a 2 stroke 426. Used a quart every 100 miles. (after the autopsy we found two holes had all the ring gaps in a line). Been seeing the W-30 for a while but I was in the 91 Daytona so that was not fair. One day I was in the Charger and there he was, it was play time! ;D   learned a long time ago you see W-30 you better be packing a 426 and I was packing. I got up with him at 60 MPH, there was no one for a mile.

We looked at each other and we both grin. He got froggie at 65 MPH and pulled me by half a car. Dropped the Charger to 2nd and gave her hell. Out the back window it looked like after burns had kicked in from a F-14 Tomcat. By 85 I was beside him and nailed 3rd and blew him off. I shut down at 135 MPH and had him by 6 cars.

Now $65,000 is alot of money, but the memories and there are many more like out running a tornado well worth the money.

July 2005...and too much!! LOL!   Actually I have about 13000 in it.   I have put in all new brakes (front and back), U Joints, radiator, new oil pan with oil change, tune up, etc.   I need to get some frame rails replaced and redo the wiring.   It is pretty much complete...and other then like the dash having cracks and the headliner...most of it really is cosmetic.

I paid $1500 for my 69 in 88. Put brakes on it & drove it to WI from AZ. I have about $17,000 now & it's still not finished.

Purchased mine 2 years ago for 11,000 all numbers matching 68 r/t 1 owner car. It needed body work and a rear suspension and correct interior, engine was cleaned up but never rebuilt. A few parts to be rechromed and a few to replace, thats all it took.

Silver R/T

got mine for $2200 then bought numerous parts including $700 wheels/tires

picked my 70 500, 383/4spd A/C rear defrost pdb console & buckets car for 3500 back in 2001.  It was a complete rustbucket.  replaced 4 floorpans, 2 trunk pans, the extensions, rear valence, gas tank & brace, and fixed the frame in several places.  took me 2 years before I drove it for the 1st time.

Wow! Good example how the prices of these Charger's have gone up. I bought mine last year in GA. It's a number matching 68 R/T with California title. It was black primed. Came with all pieces, including brand new interior in boxes, including new skins for seats. Got it for $ 11,500. I was the first person responding to add. Did not even try to squeeze the guy down. Just send him a deposit and 2 wks later I received it. I was looking for two years. This Charger had "0" rust, that's why I jumped on it! Currently in body shop for total restoration. 440 HP at the machine shop being blueprinted and balanced. Waiting for Bulldog heads to arrive and presently polishing all trim work and restoring car accessories at home.

I was kind of embarassed to list what I paid for it, but looking at what they are getting for them now, I dont feel that bad.

I bought my 69 R/T in 1979 for $700 all it needed was a throw out bearing. I raced the car for a few years and in 1985 the car was stolen, but I was able to retrieve it a few days later minus the tunnel ram, 660 hollys, and all the steel braided lines. I parked the car and this year I will finish the restoration.

NYCMille

A lot.... but it was worth every penny! ;D

Skyview69

Paid $500 for my 69  in 2003. It came with two spare doors, rear windshield, two quarter glass, spare gas cap, spare door panels, extra front AND rear bumper, original hub caps, original manifolds, a complete extra grill assembly!! AND it is a factory sunroof car.  Needs alot of work though!

Looks like I'm the biggest sucker of the bunch.  For my 68 R/t numbers matching, super complete including the original spare tire with 1968 air in it, a little rough around the edges but otherwise a pretty easy resto car, I paid $6,000 in 1992.  A little steep, but WTF.
