Yes sometimes the computer geeks need help as well....

I use Firefox 2.0.0.4

There are certain webpages that I try to go to but I receive a Forbidden error. These websites can be seen by everyone else I know, just not me. I'll post the exact error below. I'm using High Speed cable internet and I have no idea what is causing this.

QuoteForbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I think it says that cause the site is either gone away or you are not a member of that site or whatever.   example is google some pictures and you can open 9 of 10 but that last one that has Jessica Simpson's nipple slip comes up as a thumbnail but when you hit it to get the larger picture, it gives you that forbidden error.

I've never tried to see Jess's slip....I'm just saying. :coolgleamA:

In other words...I don't think it is your error. It's from the dark side.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Mike,

The site hasn't gone away since like I said in my original post, all my friends can open these sites, not just me and they aren't sites you have to sign up for, just normal everyday webpages.

I'm lost then.  Could it be your security settings on your comp??

I don't know I'm throwing it out there.

The only think I can thing of would be to open internet explorer and see if it still does it.  Then if it works with IE, at least you will have the problem narrowed down to firefox...

Arthu®

Are your friends also using firefox?

Friends all use IE but it doesn't work for me in IE either....

I'm wondering if it's the built in firewall on the hub... I'll bypass it in the morning and hope for the best!

Can I ask what kind of site you are trying to open?

It looks like the web server is blocking your IP address for some reason. I would have one of your friends who can access the site send an email to the admin to see if that is what is going on.

Good luck :2thumbs:

It is inaccurate to say that I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office. - H.L. Mencken

Uh, what URL are you actually typing? Try removing the "/" at the end.

If that doesn't work then the owner of the site has Apache misconfigured but it should cause a problem for everyone. What it actually means is that you can't browse the directory on the server and that there isn't a default index page within that directory to display.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Drache

It's just not a single site for me but a number of them. I've tried removing the "/" at the end like troy suggested, I've removed the HTTP:// at the beginning and even removed the "www." as well.

EDIT: I've also bypassed the hub and that didn't work as well.

It's something at the server side of things.

That error is telling you that you don't have access.
It could be a number of different things.
- you need to log in.
- you're just not allowed to access that particular part of the server
- your IP address has been blocked.
- you need to do something else to gain access to the site and/or page

Do you have some urls that we can check out? That'd tell us more.

Forbidden for me too.

That error page is normal. At least it's not an indication of a problem with your PC.
The site owner may have change the access rules or just plain buggered up his website.
