Need some help with my 8 3/4

I just got this 8 3/4 rearend from under a 72 Rallye car.  It looks from what I can tell to have a 489 case and I THINK it is an open gear with a ratio of 3.23.  Can anyone confirm this?  When I spin one axle the other turns the opposite direction, but when i spin it at the yoke, they both turn the same direction.

This is the first time I have opened one up.  I basically just wanted to check it all out before I put it under my car.   I would like to go ahead and just close it back up, add new fluid, and drive on it until im ready to restore the whole car.

My next question is, how can I tell if everything is ok inside here?   I'll need some help step by step to make sure I dont screw anything up putting it back together as well...

Thanks guys.  Im going to clean it out this week and change the oil and gaskets and get started on the installation.  I think I can handle it from here right now but i'll post back with any more questions I have.

You tell by just looking at it that it's a one legger.
