Thought I'd post some pics of my 1st E-body Rallye dash instrument cluster restoration.. It was pretty fun I have to  say. This cluster is for my friend's '71 v-code Challenger R/T. I had made a system for checking the gauges' ohms readings versus needle positions. I used the decal kits from Dave over at Performance Car Graphics. The most daunting task was forming the woodgrain panels.. If I screwed that up, there was no turning back... But, it all worked out and voila !!!!  Have to say I'm happy with the outcome...

Cheers,

If you wern't happy with the results, there would have to be something wrong with you.  Those look great!   :yesnod:  Well done.

I'm assuming you're back in the motherland?  I'm sure your wife and children have breathed a sigh of relief.

I had a wooden dowel that pretty much had the same diameter curve as the original woograin panel. So, I just placed it in the position of the original curve and slowly bent the panel to the same angle as the original piece.... It worked on both panels.....

WOW, nice job Troy.  You could put AutoInstruments out of business with that work.  ;)

Hmmmm, so Troy where do I send my 69 dash to? Houston? Only kidding.

That looks incredible. One of these days I'll get around to doing the small detail work on mine. For now I'm more concerned with the major needs.

I could do your Charger's rather quickly actually.. Instead of chroming the bezels off the bat and spending alot, I used the Testors Chrome paint pens on mine and paint the bezel appropriately.. Then, use Dave Patick's decals for the instrument.. Looks great afterwards.........  I'll do the chroming on Dana later on, but most people don't even notice.............
