Good Morning Guys. I actually found this forum through a link that was posted on the Vintage Mustang Forum. A Marine in Iraq bought what was supposed to be a pristine 68 Mustang Fastback from a car dealer in Villa Park, Illinois for $20,000 and when it got to hiw warehouse, it was not the same car that was psoted or that he recieved pictures for. ANyway, I am glad I found this place.

I just recently finished a 67 Mustang convertible with a 289 hipo in it and now have a Triple Black 68 Charger RT auto. All of the pans have been replaced and the car has been stripped to the shell. I just started stripping her down to the bare metal. This is probably going to take me the longest.

Now that I have the Forum, it will all be much easier - Right?

Great to be here and look forward to posting.

Thanks guys. I am originally from Chicago but do get around the State quite a bit. My wife's family has a condo down in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri so we go down through St. Louis quite a bit. I went to school in Carbondal and have quite a few friends down in Southern Illinois. I have wanted to hit this salvage yard dwon in East St Louis called Gateway Salvage? They are suppsoed to have over 1000 classic cars for parts. I like to go through the yards just to see what I find. I have just about everything for the Charger so I don't need anything really. It is part of my therapy - gets me out of the house and away from my family long enough to retain my sanity.

Hi, welcome to the site!

I don't suppose that dealer who sold the Mustang was HLPAG...  :flame: Much of the old information about them was on Mustang fan sites but they seem to have been focusing on Chargers for a few years now. I have noticed more Cudas/Challengers and Mustangs recently.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

You would be correct. I am sure after reading the post on this Forum taht the topic has been tread to death. What pissed me off about this latest was that the guy who bought it was a Marine serving in Iraq who was on his way home after doing 3 tours. Being a former Marine, I take that a bit personal. However, many people have informed the young Marine that he should have contacted someone in the Forum who was nearby to check the car out before paying $20,000 sight unseen.

I will do that. My wife is a teacher so she has the summers off. She plans on taking the kids on mini vacations throughout the summerleaving me at home with little to nothing to do - other than strip the Charger. What High school? My alma mater, St. Rita in Chicago, was not so good when I wrestled there but now is pretty good from what I hear. Those hard earned alumni dollars going to work to provide quality facilities for the pro athletes of the future! I am a legislative analyst for the Illinois General Assembly here in Springfield. These guys need to go home already!

Welcome to the site.  I don't suppose I need mention what I'm sure all of us around here think of HLPAG in general but then to hear that they will even stoop so low as to take advantage of a soldier while he's serving overseas in a combat zone!!  :flame: :flame: :flame:

Yes, it will be.  Or if not, you'll at least be able to read up on why it's such a pain in the ass.  :icon_smile_wink:  Lotsa great info here.

And welcome...     I'm up in the west suburbs, after spending a few years living down in Champaign...
