This was an awesome event. Big ole swap meet, national-level drag racing and what's now one of the highlights of the year to show-goers nation-wide (I took second in Daily-Driver Modified!)
It took forever to see each ride. I wish I could have showcased every car there but here is a compilation I put together of the show...

I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

Great video. I'm hoping our DVD of Monster Mopar turns out that good. We wound up getting over an hour long interview with Charlie Glotzback talking about NASCAR in 69-71. Very interesting stories.

What kind of a camera were you shooting your footage with just out of curiousity?

I have the FX1 HDV camcorder and edit on an Avid Symphony.
I have a small studio in Brentwood:

For the last few years I have done almost nothing but Anheuser-Busch stuff. I now am trying to aquire enough content to create a pilot worthy of pitching to the Speed Channel. I have plenty shot now, just need to get some segments in the can, create an open and a graphics package and make it all flow.
Probably a month away. It's what I work on when I don't have a client over my shoulder.

Once again a great looking video. Just out of curiousity what is your take on Final Cut Pro for editing? Any reason your going with Avid instead?

I know when we do our editing we have always went with Final Cut Pro. Guess it is like everything else, there are pluses and minus' to everything.

Are you going to be pitching the idea with a partner or solo? There was another group filming at Carlisle for a TV Pilot called Rock Stars and Muscle Cars, and they were pitching that show to Speed Channel as well. Helped them film their pilot out there at Carlisle.

Almost all of my editing is with a paying client sitting behind me. Avid was the only way to go for speed and stability, at least at the time. I dig FCP. I have it and I'm sure I'll use it more for unsupervised edit sessions later on. I like that the new version is HDV native. It offers premium quality with an uncompressed setup and, both without plugins, more capabilities than any Avid preoduct below DS. I simply found the Symphony to be a better match for my workflow. 70 times more than FCP, money-wise but it allows me to bill more per hour than if I had FCP.... and doing most of my work for Anheuser-Busch, that would be nada with FCP. I've find alot of producers have biased opinions about "cheap editing software" even when they know nothing about it. Heck, I've use to use Premiere at home at was spitting out national-quality stuff with no questions asked. That wasn't with a client behind me though and that makes all the difference in the world trying to pay the bills by pushing buttons.
I'm a one-man band both with my editing business and with my TV show. I hire freelancers when needed but have never wanted it to grow into a big company. That was what I was trying to get away from in leaving the comfy staff world of editing a few years ago.

So is the idea your pitching to them just about Mopar Car shows? Or all make shows also?

I do like the new FCP as well. We were using an older version but have since upgraded to FCP HD. We aren't shooting anything in HD yet, but hopefully in a few seasons we will be. As of right now we are using Canon XL1s, and a Panasonic AGDVX100.

Look forward to seeing some more of your video's in the future. I know personally I always enjoy seeing video's of shows that I haven't had the opprotunity to attend. But it seems some people are just the opposite and only want to see the ones they did attend and had their cars at.
