High Impact

This last weekend I went to a estate sale and was blowen away by what I seen sitting in a shed out back. I was yelled at for wandering towords the car so I asked if the owner was around to speak with and sure enough he was in the house. He said he got it from his cousin that owed him money about 4 years ago and that he wants to fix it up but just hasn't found the time yet. We went back and he let me crawl all over it!! It's a 440-4bbl,4-speed,Dana car!!!!!  that has been off the road since 1981. The engine is out and is on the engine stand all rebuit, the trans is hanging in the car and the front clip is off and down state at someone's elses house. He say's it has the Air Grabber hood and that He's got an extra too!  (cool)  along with a spare 4-speed. :yesnod: the body has rust.......the doors are save-able along with the quarters but it does have issue's but nothing terrible. The dash cluster looks new..... I cant believe how nice the needles look, its got buckets, console, tach, manual brakes and steering,3.54 dana, No go-wing,rear speaker fader,am radio. Black Vinyl top, dark geen paint with the black stripe that RT's had. A really sweet car!!!!!!!!!!!! I think if I tried I could maybe talk him out of it.

Do you guys have any idea what the car would be worth is this shape and what the extra hood and trans might be worth??????????? Vin tag says: WS23U ??????? (didn't look at the rest) Thanks and I'll try to get pic's maybe tomorrow!

That extra hood has to be worth a couple grand if it's all there. See if you can get some pic's of it all and we can give you a better idea of what it's worth.

Hard to say without pics, but 71 RT's are as much as 69 RT's now, so in the '69' price range I would say...but then again, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay.

If 2 complete Air Grabber hoods in good shape at 2k each thats 4k just for the 2 hoods if complete & good shape. You say rusty but how rusty? I'd say car worth $4,000 without seeing minus the 2 hoods if #'s matching & complete. Just a guess though? LEON.

terrible one

The two air grabber hoods alone are going to be worth like $4,000-5,000 I'm sure. Then with that highly optioned car itself in a saveable state, I would say that it's worth $10,000+. . .maybe?

Ghoste

It'd be nice to know the condition of the front clip too.  A partially disassembled car is worth less but then again, he didn't ask you to buy it, you're considering asking him. :icon_smile_wink:

I didnt want to pressure the guy to much and also he has no idea how nice the missing parts are because they are all still at his brothers,  another reason why I havn't throwen any numbers at him because of whats un knowen.   It would be a REALLY SWEET car to restore and is a little bit better than my 72 Rallye Charger that is waiting in the wings.  Id say "Good-Bye"  to the 72 Rallye for this 71  RT!   I'll keep you guys informed.   Thanks for the response's.

konigcharger

i like this method the best

completely restored the cars worth  60,000-65,000
minus cost rotiserie restore lets say  -40,000
                                                 =20,000

could go up or down depending on the market

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

It sure looks like a worthwhile project to take on to me.  I don't know if it's a 20,000 dollar project but it's a worthwhile one.

hemi-hampton

Looks like the entire engine compartment & back side of inner fenders have been cheaply resprayed by Earl Scheib or Maaco, Deduct some $$ for that damage. LEON.

Curently he is planning on doing something with it.  Also I would like to see the other piece's so I know what there condition is before I go around throwing offers at him.   In the mean time Im hopeing no-one else see's it.   It'd be just my luck someone will go down this backwoods street and see it sitting and he'd sell it for bean's.    Id go- :RantExplode: :RantExplode: :RantExplode:
