WHAT WOULD BE THE CORRECT OIL PRESSURE READING
IN A STOCK 68 CHARGER 440  :-\
THANKS GUYS

Ghoste

That's a loaded question.  If I had to guess an average on a stock one at 40 years out from average driving, I'm going to put my money on 40 lbs.
Obviously something made you ask the question, so what are you getting?

RD

at idle or while driving?
67 Plymouth Barracuda, 69 Plymouth Barracuda, 73 Charger SE, 75 D100, 80 Sno-Commander

Ghoste

And hot or cold and do you know the guage is accurate?

MR.MIKE

YES...TRYING TO SEE IF GAUGE IS CORRECT
AT IDLE WHEN FIRST STARTED IT READS 20LBS
I DIDNT GET TO WARM IT UP AFTER I NOTICED
FUEL LINE WAS LEAKING  ::)

Ghoste

20 lbs at idle MIGHT not be an issue.  It depends on how hot it was and how many miles are on everything.  If it was stone cold, it's lower than I would like personally but not by a lot.
You don't have a mechanical guage around you can temporarily pipe in there?

Just 6T9 CHGR

Stock gauges are notoriously incorrect.  The common rule is 10psi for every 1k RPM

As a comparo on my 440 I get 75psi cold and 40psi hot at an idle....this is read on a new AutoMeter psi gauge.

My dash reads (when it wants to) 60 psi cold & 20 psi hot
Chris' '69 Charger R/T

MR.MIKE

I GUESS I WILL HOOK UP A NEW GAUGE
BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY
THANKS FOR THE HELP
