69charger2002

definitely not that way in Louisiana. in fact they changed antique plates back to permanent. so for $70 the tag is permanent and registration too. my insurance is through hagerty and for 9 cars i pay around $800 a year. can't beat that. no emissions laws on pre 97 too so owning a classic here is nice. except for gas prices of course. i think i read a thread about that somewhere though .  :) get out of NJ while they still let you dude
i live in CHARGERLAND.. visitors welcome. 166 total, 7 still around

When you look up the word corrupt in the dictionary, there is a picture of New Jersey.  My car insurance here in NJ isn't all that bad considering.  The truck (full coverage) and my olds(liability) cost me $1500 a year, the 2 Chevelles, the Charger, and the 69 Olds cost me just under $1000 with Hagerty.  The government in this state needs some major overhauling though, I will say that.

Or move to Wisconsin ::) Third highest taxes in the country :P And now I heard they wanna raise car registration fees again. It is getting close to a $100.00 a year to register your pickup truck. It will go to $75 a year to register your car regaurdless of year if it passes. We also pay about .27 cents a gallon just in state taxes for gas. :rotz:

Sorry to hear that man, but you guys elected the corrupt officials and put them into office. From the dog catcher to the state supreme court that is what you get when you have one party in control of state politics that believe higher taxes bring in jobs and help the economy.

Ohio is getting there we are not that bad yet but with the new regime that was elected last November and the thinking that raising taxes helps the economy not much you can do but move or throw the bums out.

NY aint that much better.......my property tax has risen 76% in the past 5 years and our gas tax is one of the worst as well...

Just make sure you send a letter to your governor telling him why you are leaving and make sure you include in the letter the amount of money you pay in taxes and other funds you supply the state with and tell him that all that money will now be going to another state. I am sure your piddly amount of taxes you pay won't matter but to him since all those rich people in upstate pay more but if everyone who moves does this I am sure that will have more of an effect on him that you realize. If he got 1000 letters from residents leaving telling him the state stinks because of high taxes it may prick his conscience and get some action. I Doubt it though, the mafia that is your state government has demonstrated long ago that a little thing conscience can be ignored when you are soaking the residents for money to line your pockets.

But then again maybe that is their plan to get as many people out of their state as they can by sending them to neighboring states so they don't have to worry about providing public services to you

They suck, but you know what?  I still Love NY!!  I am proud to say I am from New York and I think that even with all of the BS, I would never leave.  I may move upstate or way out on the North Fork of LI, but I cannot see myself leaving.  I have never lived anywhere else and never plan to.

Well lets see here, in the 5 years we have been in our house, our property taxes are now nearly 280% higher than they were. My property taxes on the mortgage is nearly  half what the payment for the house is. When we started payemt, and taxes on property was $850, now payment and property taxes are $1,390 per month. If it keeps going like this I'll be paying $700 towards house, and $700 towards taxes per month. Not exactly what I had in mind.

A friend of mine left NJ because of taxes 2 years ago, & is now in western VA in a small town near Lynchburg called Monroe. He's got a cape cod style house with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1-1/2 acres, a 2-1/2 car garage, & it was built in the early 90's. I think he paid about $165,000 & his taxes were $900 per year last I spoke to him.

I think it all depends on what you need, like if you have kids & need to be in a decent school district the tax will be higher. I think more than half of my tax bill goes to school tax, so if I were to move in the future, I'd look into an area that has dumb kids & people who don't care about teaching them so I can save a few bucks.  :D

My taxes when I moved here to Newburgh, NY in 1989 were $2400 per year, & right now they are about $4200 per year. One other factor some people overlook is the way taxes are offset, meaning industry, retail, or some other type of commercial & business that pay more than a town with residential only. If all you have is single family homes in your town, the taxes will kill you.

Earth. Even the word sounded strange to me now... unfamiliar. How long had I been gone? How long had I been back? Did it matter? I tried to find the rhythm of the world where I used to live. I followed the current. I was silent, attentive, I made a conscious effort to smile, nod, stand, and perform the millions of gestures that constitute life on earth. I studied these gestures until they became reflexes again. But I was haunted by the idea that I remembered her wrong -Solaris
