Lee Sicilio again has set a new land speed record for his clone daytona.Out fitted with Teds parts from TX like nose and window plug etc .To verify to date he has had zero defects or any fiberglass short comings he set one thanking Ted.As a unbiased review.Coming from a out sider a independant that has nothing to gain by making allegations .When I recieve it It will be posted.((Then maybe you can explain Charger Vert)) Why this race car under several kinds of stress is exhibiting no fiberglass short comings of Teds parts. As you claim the street useage ones will fail. Also how many outsider independant customer satisfaction salutes are on the dayclona website. At this time or ever

Ghoste

Well, I'm MUCH less interested in the parts dispute than I was the speed record.  I was kind of hoping by the thread title you had some info and "I was there" pictures of the event.
Imagine my disappointment.  :brickwall: :horse: :dancinglock:

Shakey

I'll bet that nose cone and window plug made all the difference.  ::)

Take this shit elsewhere!

wingcars6970

Well when a associate of dayclona a one charger vert Pete christensen .Make claims as fiberglass parts from TX .Will not hold up this race car and its parts and accomplishment .Say other wise

If you let it go, maybe they will too!

I don't think anyone here cares!

I have spoke with Lee on the phone a couple of times. In fact I bought some parts from him. Told Ted's parts hold up just fine on his Daytona Clone. Remember, Ted made 3 grades of wings, Lee used the one that was like $1500.00.

The parts I got from Ted where top notch and way better made than other glass parts I have seen. My only beef was the 4:00 AM phone call's and waitting for a year for parts.

How fast did Lee go this time? I think the last time him and I spoke he was doing 245.5 MPH. That is hauling.

he says he used the fiberglass nose and plug. i doubt that any fiberglass wing will work at those speeds. i've always heard that ted makes the best fiberglass wing car parts, he just takes a long time and there expensive .  Rene

It's a personal attack that a few members are thankfully trying to turn into a meaningful discussion on the durbaility of glass wings at speed.

cudaken

First you need to know that it has been 5 years sense I spoke with either Lee or Ted so I may not remember all the details. If I remember right the $1500 wing where re enforced with steel rods. Unlike many here I have never seen Teds wing off. I had a orginal wing that was a friend's extra that I was going to use till Ted made mine. But Ted never made me one when I had money and I finaly gave up the project.

Not so easy to get in Canada, but I do love a neat glass of fine bourbon.

wingcars6970

Well when you have charger vert and associates at dayclona bad mouthing TX parts. This record breaker clone daytona outfitted in TX parts .Discredits there claims and allegations againist fiberglass products

Ghoste

Fiberglass is good.  I have heard though that too many fumes from the resin can cause brain damage.

hotrod98

Will you have whiskey with your water Or sugar with your tea?
What are these crazy questions That they`re asking of me?

I'm sure they all make some nice parts. It's obvious that the steel parts are much more durable than the fg parts, but they cost a lot more too. But then again, are we comparing all of the parts or just the fg parts?
I say to each his own. It's really not worth arguing over.

Hey Ken, we all thought it was a post about the record run in the beginning but since it wasn't, it's just a free for all now.  Enjoy.

Daytona Guy

With the wing being reinforced with steel does not discount the record or it’s strength. Ted, I believe, could reinforce any wing he sells. Cobra Boats of Vancouver, OR, back in the 80's made Daytona and Bird wings out of glass and I was very impressed with them. I even stood on one to see if it was strong. What cracks me up about all of this debate - is that   no one has any proof. I have yet to hear of a wing made by Ted track. Yet I have heard and seen the rear window plugs separate. I have a suggestion... Until someone can show a fiberglass wing from Ted that has cracked or failed, and until then, why not let people enjoy what they have, and buy what they want. I like my aluminum wings. (I am in the process of making an aluminum wing for 3rd Gen Chargers - It will be glass to start with then aluminum) Why can't we be for something (Aluminum) and not have to be against something else.

BigBlockSam

last time i drank Wild Turkey, i was 21 yrs old in a punk band, playing a frat party at rutgers collage.   thats about all i rember about that nite.

Dane,
Is there any chance that anyone is building an aluminum wing for a superbird? We're looking at possibly building a bird clone later on to go with the daytona clone. You know that my wife wants a wing car, but I kind of hate to think about building two daytonas. I tend to get bored building the same thing twice. It took me a lot longer to build my wife's cuda than it did to build mine because I had lost interest. At least she will have an aluminum daytona wing if anyone wanted to trade. lol
She's been trying to talk me into putting a wing on either the   69 runner or the 69 superbee. I don't think I've ever seen it done before. Don't think it would look all that great. I guess the coronet fenders would fit the 69 runner though. Both of those cars are too nice to start messing around with.
BTW, the wing braces are welded. May get them painted this weekend.

If i had a Bird wing, real or glass, I can make an aluminum wing. I do now someone who has a nice Janak wing, I could see if he would be willing to part with it for a short time. But the draw back of a bird wing is that it would weigh more because the bulk of the bird wing is at the base.

Thanks Daytona guy Dane and all for your replys .As Dane said there is not broken part fiberglass as any proof. The people at dayclona like chargervert and Mike make the allegations.Maybe to generate sales who knows why.But with as many clones on here Im not hearing the alleged fiberglass short comings. Coming from no other place but .The people at Dayclona at this time. Here is a sample.

This is what I learned from my experiences! On Daytonas window plugs should also be steel to avoid stress crackingcracking,on Superbirds the fiberglass plug is as factory, and will work alright because the window plug is covered by the vynal top.Dane likes to use Vega plugs on his cars, but if I am going to do a Daytona, than I would buy the plug from Dayclona, and do the car correctly.
