I am doing a base clear frost green. I have paintd before but can not remember if sanding is required between base and clear?

only if you get a run in the base. otherwise let it flash off whatever that manufacturer recommends for their product, and spray your next coat. usually a half hour or so. but check with what the manufacturer of your paint says and do what they say over what I say.

Yeah, it probably wouldn't be very beneficial to sand the color coat on a base/clear job.  Maybe if there's a specific problem. (Like a run in the paint, or you've let it cure too much before clearing over it and you wanna scuff the surface for adhesion, etc).

Some people might say to wet-sand the clearcoat before the final buffing job.

Any way you choose to go about it, it's the final clearcoat that you really wanna smooth out.

I have sanded between paint jobs only cause of defects, if your wanting that show quality, depth per-say, your final coat of base you can sand after its flashed over an hour in room/shop temp, spot blend at least 2 to 3 coats at least if you've broken through and what you've sanded, if no break through, then clear it at least 3 times.

If your doing a Quality job, I like to sand before clear. Mostly this is to get rid of small dirt specks or known as Denibbing. I always use a sealer & this sealer may have small dirt specks in it then paint gets more dirt each coat & then it starts to slowly accumulate. If your doing a Solid color no need to re add paint unless you go through but can if you want & optional. If your doing a Metallic color you definetly want o re add base/color to eliminate scratches & get metallic color back to how it should be, Mandatory with a Metallic to re add color if you sand. OR, If a low budget job dont sand & just clear. But if you were to do a heavy duty wet sand & rub job Dirt may or may not mar the surface. Sometimes dirt in the sealer will leave the same color of the sealer in the painted suface if dirt in there then rubbed. LEON.

you usually don't unless you ran it or have lots of dirt. You can run tack rag over it lightly between each coat to get dirt off but most good spray booths don't have dirt problem.
