Where or how or is there a button for "Print Screen"? On my laptop, the insert button also has a small box that says "prt sc" which I figured that would mean print screen. But it doesn't do that. Does Windows Vista even have that option?

There could be an Fn button that you have to hold for the print screen to work, mine is that way.

Well, I found the Fn button, but it still doesn't post to the "Paint" program like XP does. Do I have to hold it down for a certain amount of time or?

Are you actually trying to print it or are you trying to save it to the paint program?

Save to paint. I want to take a screen shot of my desktop wallpaper, and I also got a webpage I want a shot of. But I can't get nothing to post to "Paint like you can on Windows XP".  :shruggy:

According to my copy of "Vista for dummies" it puts it in memory...where you can paste it into other windows. Hold the Alt key while hitting print screen to send a picture of the current window-not the entire screen-to the clipboard for pasting. Hope that helps cuz I'm lost!  :eek2:

So it's overly complex when it could be simple? That doesn't sound anything like Vista.

Same as XP (holding ALT only grabs the current window - not the entire screen). It puts the image on the clipboard (memory) so it can be pasted into another application. In either case, laptops require an extra button to be pushed since they don't have enough space for a full keyboard.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Vista book: "If you really want a printout of the screen, press the Print Screen button to send a picture of the screen to its memory. (It won't look like anything has happened.) Then click Start, choose All Programs, select Accessories, open Paint, and choose Paste from the Edit menu. When your picture appears, choose Print from the File menu to send it to the printer." (or go buy Windows 7)

Shows what kind of big dumbie I can be ::)

I have the book "Windows for Dummies Vista", and I never thought about looking at it :P

Anyway, thanks guys   I figured it out.

On my laptop, I have to push the "insert" button & the [fn] button at the same time. Then I can paste straight to "paint".
                                            [prt sc]

I need to get a regular key board for it :P
