somewhat misleading advertisement of the 06?

not a charger bash thread, though I know I cannot control it.

I am currently looking at last month's issue of MPH magazine and I get to a 06 charger ad.  it states:

"the charger hybrid- it burns gas and rubber."  which is a pretty good slogan if you ask me, but here is the kicker. The picture of the car is offset from the center, and if you are none the wiser, the seam where the two doors meet is actually in the crease of the magazine pages, causes the car to actually look like a two door version.

now I am not implying that they are making a two door version, I just do not see how the likelihood of the car to hit that door seam in relation to the magazine crease so perfectly was unintentional.  maybe a little subliminal advertisement going on there ya reckon?

what are your thoughts?

Big Lebowski

I saw something on Moparts about a race version SRT-8 Charger w/ DCX VP Mr. Gilles actually driving it. The back doors had the handles shaved off and filled..Not trying to hide the back doors? Nooooo, and the big SRT sticker on the side of the car covers up the back doors also.

It's a sedan that looks like a coupe. kinda like what the '99 Charger did so well...it didn't look like a 4 door.
"Let me explain something to you, um i am not Mr. Lebowski, you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the dude, so that's what you call me. That or his dudeness, or duder, or you know, el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing."

Ghoste

The grille and awkward looking rear quarter trouble me much more than the four doors.  Who knows what their plans are?  Given the lukewarm reaction it's getting, I think it's a safe bet they are throwing all sorts of ideas around.

although I'm no fan of the design of the AntiCharger as it is now, I do think it would look much better as a two door.  The only problem with that, however, is that it would take on the appearance of an oversized and heavily customized 67 Mustang.

There going to mislead you any way they can to get you to buy the thing. Because there never going to make an actual profit on it and they know it.

andy, if you see i am trying to discern the advertising techniques of Daimler-Chrysler, not bash the creeder.  I like the car actually, just don't like it called a charger.

When you watch the "unleashed" commercials they do the same thing.  They show the front and the back but only a flash of the side.  I will say that the nose is growing on me.  It kind of looks like it's pissed off.
When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

i have to sell these frigging things, how do you think i feel about it?i have people almost every day come in to tell me they would buy it if it was   1)a 2 door
                                                         2)could have a manual shift
                                                         3)looked like a old charger

im not trying to get personal, and i dont feel well so if i come across as a dick its not intentional, but cant we all let it go?its already built, and they are selling-im not happy about the name either, but it is a nice car,and i think we have all wasted enough time on it-now im taking my nitequill and going to sleep

sorry to rant-Andy

the advertising is reflecting the prevailing opinion that as a four door it wasn't received that well, by anyone...

(BTW: have you seen the new four page fold out ad in the major mags that says..
"Leading magazines in the area of men's lifestyle, personal finance, technology, and automotive (sic) conclude that the 2006 Dodge C*****r's bold design and mighty performance defines todays muscle car."...?)

                                    ::)

That's as bad as them putting the woman who named the thing in the very front of the C******r's P.R. materials... must really be a major "Spin Control" project keeping the folks awake nights at headquarters.

                            :P
