1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye - 340 / A-518 / 3.23 Sure Grip

terrible one

I think it's just there to store vacuum so that you can open or close the headlights without the engine running. And if I'm not mistaken it just connects inline with the vacuum tubes going to the headlights.

I wasn't aware that the 70 Chargers had a vacuum cannister.  I had a 70 up until 2004, and all mine had was one electric motor for the headlight doors.  No cannister.  Thought that was a 68-69 thing.

Haha man I didn't even think about the fact that it was a '70. Electric headlights . . . duh.

I know my dad's '70 R/T had one. He said it looked like a large coffee can....  :icon_smile_big:

I had this exact same Question/Conversation in here about a month or 2 ago. Was told it was to open & close doors on Heater Box or A/C or both or something like that? LEON.

The '70 had an electic motor for the headlights.
The cannister is for the doors inside the A/C heater assembly.

in 70 the vac can only came on a/c cars, like said above for opening the doors ect in the hvac unit. the can is also not the same as a 68 69 either its smaller and mounts to the radiator sopport but still under the battery tray.

ok - so i pull vacuume from the nipple on the rear od the intake and then run it to the heater/AC box ?  there are two small (1/4" ?) lines that passes through the firewall adjacent to the AC bulkhead connectors.
