My ebrake has a small but annoying problem. To set the ebrake I must manually push the release handle towards the firewall for the pedal to ratchet down. When I pull the release handle the pedal will release but doesn't come up enough to make the emergency brake indicator light go off. I've found that if I manually push the release handle in and raise the pedal manually with my foot it will hold but as soon as I go over a bump it drops again.
Any help or pix will be appreciated.

Check to make sure the spring on the rod is there & retained.   I believe there is a spring internally as well.

Its possible that the return spring is broken or there is a lack of lubrication there.  In an extreme case the cable itself might be frozen preventing a smooth return......

Yup, I'm missing the front spring retainer and the spring has moved all the way out to the handle. Looks like there's a rubber grommet that goes into the hole where the handle shaft comes through and that isn't in good shape. For the time being I out a small hose calmp to hold the spring in place.
Who sells these small parts?
