What's it worth? My '68 Charger

So I've got this old '68 laying around. Was a 318 automatic column shift, now has a junkyard 400 and a hole hacked in the floor so you can reach the shift arm on the tranny :icon_smile_dissapprove:  It needs a trunk floor, quarters, rear valance and corners. The floors (with the exception of the hacked hole) are fine and the framerails, torsion bar crossmember, etc. are all rock solid. The grill (bottom pic) is in great shape. I'm sure the back window channel has a few small bad spots in it, but nothing a few small patches wouldn't fix. The front fenders are beat to hell, but they're not rusty...It runs (at least it did the last time I tried it) and I've spent some quality time in the past amusing the neighbors by driving it around the sub division with no exhaust on it  :icon_smile_evil: I've got it and some of my other "gems" stuffed in a friend's barn...this car is NOT FOR SALE but I'm wondering just what something like this is worth these days?

hard to say but, it'll be double that in ten years

Is it orginally a manual or automatic on the column?  If it is a manual, it would be worth a little more due to rarity (handful of those are known- Last time I talked to Wayne of TDC, there were six of them known, including mine).  My guess (based on an automatic transmission) would be in the $6,000-8000 range since it is a running second generation Charger and those are wanted by many people as starting points for projects/restorations.  It would be worth more if it was a mint survivor, but they were just used cars at one time and driven as such.  I may be totally off on the value range, but the parts alone would add up to there rather quickly if sold that way on ebay......

In that shape, IMO 2500-3500, but that is around here, and only what I think!

The real question is...do you drive it with a red two gallon plastic gas tank mounted on the roof? If so, it's bound to be worth far more. But really, it's prolly worth around 4-6 k.

It's an automatic, and I've edited the post to relect this ;)

Actually if you look real close in the first pic you can see the yellow plastic anti-freeze jug zipp-tied to the radiator support....that's the gas tank  ;)

From what I've seen in your thread, your R/T is a bodo'd up turd. I'm sure the fact that you are working on it decreases the value alone.  :eyes:

Guys, it seems like we have an epidemic here! Classic! I'm gonna tear the line off my 4-Runner and have a go at it...after a valium or three...

That could be a fun toy...  if I was looking for one I would probably give 6-7k for it.

No more than $6k IMO.

:iagree: Although i havent been watching ebay lately, i have the same exact car and i would agree that $6,000 is pretty good.

It seems the general concensus is around $6-$8K. Sounds pretty good to me. The car is not for sale, but I do need to figure out a value on this and a couple other of my "projects" ( junkers ;) )  They're in storage and I need to see if I can get some kind of insurance on them, just in case -god forbid-something would happen.... :icon_smile_dissapprove:
